Why is google letting G+ influence page ranking on debatable info?

    So our competitor company is using the name of the location we are both selling, and so it looks like the official page for that location. They have 60 000 odd +1 followers, but I can't seem to see how many people they have in their circles. When they are searched for in google their company logo, which redirects people to their page, comes up next to the wiki description in the right-hand bar. What I need to know is why their logo would be showing up in that right-hand bar and if it has anything to do with G+.
