Why is Google charging me $1 a click when my max CPC is 5 cents?

I just turned off my Search network in some ad groups, to see if Content Network would perform better. Default CPC is .05

When I returned a few hours later, Google had charged me, on average $0.94 a click for a few dozen clicks.

    My default CPC is .05

Why was I charged 20 times that?

What is Your daily and monthly buget limit? Make an average and afterwards count....

Also I don't advise using content network, it doesn't bring all those wanted clicks (I MEAN QUALITY CLICKS). In my opinion it's much much better using serach network.

    Good luck!

You messed something up...or you're using the budget optimizer.

There are SO MANY tings going under the table in Adwords these days...

is it possible that they've changed something in their rules? that affected you like THIS?

NEW RULE: " When the unsuspected advertiser truns off Search network,
go and rip him 20 times what he specified as a default CPC, so that he
don't do it again... and be an example for his fellow advertisers! "

    Just KIDDING :D

You can specifiy separate bid prices for search and content. Believe me, I've screwed up before where I was paying $1.00 or so per search click, which is fine, but then I turned content on and started getting tons of content clicks and forgot to drop that particular bid price down. Live and learn!

maybe you missed out a decimal point on a bid somewhere? We've all done it. :)
