So true.. To be honest high PR means a lot of any webmaster. I wonder why many start dumb threads such this one. In the end it is everyones goal to achieve high PR!
It's not my goal to have a high PR. It's my goal to have my sites ranking at the top of the SERPs for relevant quality keywords and phrases. They are NOT the same thing.
In paraphrase of Shakespare's known sentence - PR is dignity. Even though it's no longer the main part of google's ranking algorithm - it's still important. "Your PR or your life".
Even once Shakespare has said (in fact, I'm not really sure of it) : "to be or not to be well ranked, that's the question". Ok, I log out. But... I'll be back !
There are some people who pursue Page Rank for no real rational. However, many of the people who keep saying that Page Rank has no value, don't understand that there are multiple business models for websites. Some sites try to make money just by ranking well. They want organic traffic that converts well into sales or ad clicks. These types of sites don't really care about Page Rank. Often times (not always) these types of sites are not offering authoritative information. If their goal is to get someone to click an ad, they can't have too much information or people might just stay on the site and never click an advertisement. Many of the 5 to 15 page sites fall into this category (not all, but many). There are other sites that are not currently trying to make money off adsense type ads and sales. They may sell text links or simply want to build a strong base of incoming links to help with their future plans. For these type of sites, Page Rank is much more important. If they want to do a link exchange, people will look at the Page Rank. If they want to sell text link ads, Page Rank is an important component of the price. If they plan to sell the site, Page Rank can be important. If Google will penalize a site for linking to a "bad neighborhood", then Page Rank becomes even more important because it shows what Google thinks of your site. If webmasters are worried about getting penalized themselves, they are less likely to link to a site with no PR. There are a lot of reasons why Page Rank can matter for your site. Just because it doesn't matter for your sites doesn't mean it shouldn't matter for anyone else.
If PR stood for the amount of trust google has in a site, PR would actually mean something in the SERPS. But it doesn't. A site can have PR5 or 6 and still not have a lot of trust. Bad neighbourhood sites (when they aren't banned) can have link popularity none the less. PR = a measure of link-popularity.
oh I don't know.. why not do a search and find out? Theres only a couple hundred threads on this topic.
- PR can improve your revenue when you sell your links. - Higher PR makes others more interested having a link exchange with your site.
PageRank is a good sign of your progress PageRank is maybe not the decisive, but one of significant factors of ranking PageRank can be traded When you have good PageRank its easy to find link partners Placing links from pages with good PageRank you can be sure that the linked page will be quickly indexed I can give many more reasons to get obsessed with PageRank, but should I?
page rank is number calculated with formulas . this mean pr is only a number (NOTHINK) on the otherwise page rank is an economic value. Link buying& selling
True they are not the same thing but how many times have you seen a PR0 site ranked #1 for a competative keyword in Google
Well I do think PR is important and any serious webmaster should work at raising there sites PR if they want to rank for keywords other than ones like "SEO Website Optimization Tips and Tricks for Google" For those of you that think PR has nothing to do with rankings THINK about it a sites PR is determined by the number of incoming links and the PR of the pages those links are on......One of the main factors in determining a sites rank is the number and quality of its incoming links so by raising one you raise the other they are connected.
