I check the SERPs for my sites chosen keywords/phrases on a weekly basis, or more often if I've made significant changes to the site. I can't remember the last time I check my sites "PageRank" with any kind of gusto. Why are people so obsessed with a little green bar and minute movements to the right? PageRank is vanity - ranking is sanity.
I wonder the same thing... seems like most people wants to increase their PR so they can sell links to other who wants to increase their PR as well, so it's just a cycle...
It's a cycle for all who want to increase their PR and I think they are 30 % from all pages from Internet ! Regards
Because people are obsessed with this little green bar and minute movements to the right ? ... It's an easy way to show the value of a link on a certain page.
No doubt that PR doesn't have the ranking weight anymore but still we need to have something to judge a website and that green bar tells the story most of the times
To be honest, i wasn't too bothered with PR as long as i had good rankings, but now i have directories, it's a different story
What I find rather strange is that everyone obsessed with PR expects their PR to increase every time there is a PR update. It's actually very amusing reading the threads where some will say that a PR update can't possibly be happening because their PR hasn't moved! All I want is tons of traffic that convert.
anyone can have one's own opinion about PR. But one thing is sure : Go to the link exchange part of this forum and try to obtain a partenership after having written "Hello everybody, who wants to exchange links with my PR0 site" ?
Ok - let's assume page rank isn't important. So why does Google continue to have so much resource committed to producing it ?
I agree with you. PR is one of the selling points in the link market. If it is not, no one would care much about it.
PR doesn't stand for page rank, it stands for penis rank and everyone wants to be the biggest. In my case the scale needs to go to 12
Page Rank has 3 major benefits: 1: it is one of the major factors Google uses to rank pages in the serps 2: it gives visitors a more comfortable feel if they want to do business with the site. 3: linking value to other pages, and other sites
Everyone needs some kind of mesurement to rank the quality of a site. PR is one of the tools to do so. We all know PR alone will not help. But it gives an approximate idea about the quality of out going links from a site.
I think the question should be why is everyone so bothered about those of us that care about PR.. There's plenty of people on DP that like to see the PR updates and how their site has progressed. So they do their thing, watch the updates, talk about it etc. Then theres those on DP that don't care about PR, but instead of just not talking about it and staying out of the PR threads, they constantly question the people that care about PR, and tell them they're wasting their time. So theres the people that care about PR, and theres the people that care about the people that care about PR
