Why is eBay so s***d up?

eBay is now not with CJ and has its in house EPN. I applied for a membership over a week back, but there has still been absolutely no response from them regarding my application being approved or rejected.

There seems to be no way of contacting the affiliate manager there. I thought I would raise a query in the eBay affiliate forum. It asked me to create an eBay id first. Now, I am not able to sign up because the activation mail is just not reaching me.

Has eBay closed shop or something?

No. I have multiple ebay stores and am just cruising along ravishingly. I got my approval almost instantly. There must be something else, or maybe they didn't like the site that you submitted (they of course won't tell you that).

When did you apply for the program?

I doubt it is because of my website because I applied it for one of the sites my company manages where we get hundreds of thousands of visitors which eBay wouldn't want to miss.

It's been a few months now. A far as the traffic on your site, that is not enough to make ebay do a back flip for you, I mean they get more traffic on their own than anyone can even compete with, but if you are promoting a product or company that they don't want to be associated with, or if the content is against their terms of service, it wouldn't matter if you got 1 million visitors a day.

Also, if you applied with a site that you are not the webmaster or technical contact for, they will not see that as one of your sites and may consider your application misleading or fraudulent. You can only apply with sites that you either own, or are the administrator of, and that is reflected with the registration of the domain.

You said yourself you applied with a site that your company manages..not that you or your company owns it, nor that you are the webmaster or administrator.

It's really hard to say, but I'm just giving you some common problems.

I was approved almost immediately, but of the sites I submitted, I own them all, am listed as the technical contact, and administrator, and the contact info on the domains, match the one I submitted. So there was no question.

There is an alternative to ebay that pays good if you were rejected and at this moment is an under tapped market. There is a wordpress plugin out for it and is free to use. See my sig for more info.

    Contacting them is pretty easy:

If you are interested in contacting Steve Hartman directly you can find his contact info here:

    Steve Hartman (408) 267-8242 Mobile: 1(408)623-0195

Here are some other ebay/epn contacts I found:

    Kim Thai:
    Jarrod Schwarz:

I suggest that you contact John Donahoe’s office directly. That email address is:
    __________________

The problem is that Hartman, the leader of the ePN staff has not experience in affiliate marketing. In fact, he is the idiot that decided to put Yahoo and other 3rd party ads on eBay, creating a HUGE traffic leak for affiliates.

Ebay is sort of like the rest of the "once-great companies that have gone to s***" and probably won't exist in the next 5-10 years because of poor management that won't adjust to market conditions. Sort of like Yahoo, GM, Chrysler, Sears and so on.

I don't see why you all are having such a hard time with ebay. I didn't do anything special, got approved right away, and I'm making a little coin with them. They pay on time..never had a problem with accuracy, and it goes right into Pay Pal.
They have good tools, it's a trusted branded name, and people actually use them by the millions.

Those of you who haven't been approved don't know anything about the company, so how can you bad mouth them?

What bugs me is that the commission levels seem so inconsistent. I had a $200 sale yesterday with a negative 10 cent commission! WTH???

Yeah, I can understand that. What I do with ebay is kind of like the Ron Popiel Roaster Oven on Late Nite T.V...."set it and forget it".
I have a few stores up, and I incorporate product sales on my blogs, but I have a hard time promoting with PPC because it does seem a little out of whack.

I love ebay because it is easy, but I put more emphases programs that pay a definite amount for a product sold, no fluctuations.

That is pretty funny. After the "shart girl" video "exploded" around the web, you can't look at that and not bust a gut...all puns intended:D
