Ebay is a great place to buy and sell almost anything, but it seems that domains don't really do that well on there. Why is this? I thought it would be the best place to sell them, but it seems I am wrong. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Yeah I agree. Ebay isn't a great place to sell domains because it doesn't really specialise in domain auctions or the selling of domains. It's not a specialised niche. To make the big bux I would say to do it at places like sedo, here or namespro.
Have heard that for domains it's best to avoid 3rd party vendors and stick the the likes of Godaddy. Something to do with if things go bad you may not actually be in charge of the domain. No such issue with the Primaries.
Because it isn't the place where most webmasters are on. Normal internet users use eBay as a marketplace to buy & sell used products etc, but there are places like here on DigitalPoint where a specific type of people comes together -- you get better prices and offers for what you're selling
Ebay's full of shit names that aren't even worth $1 that people are trying to flog off for $100,000,000, that could be one of the reasons why people consider Ebay a bit of a joke for domain names.
2-3 years ago, ebay is good for buy/sale domain names. Then, so many seller start selling crap domain names or come out with unreasonable high price.. just try to impress their domain names by copy sexy girl picture.. and unfortunately ebay does not control about it.. so buyer always frustrated, waste their time to search good domains.. and ebay NOT the greatest place to sell domains
eBay was never a good place to sell Domains. I sold a domain, but eBay rejected and suspended my Account for 5 days. I'm like "wtf".
eBay is a joke, people just trying to make a lot of money for nothing. I would look up some real domain brokers such as sedo. I've been looking at some prime domains for my industry which are being sat on by portal websites atm, though I may up and buy one after christmas here...
Ebays domain section doesnt have subcatagories. Thats why they dont sell well. People dont want to search through a bunch of names trying to find something. Email them and suggest adding subcatagories like business, gaming, real estate, brandables, 4 letter.etc. They will add the subcatagories if enough people email them. Ive seen it done before. Thanks
Because there are not much people spend much time on a domain name. auction for popular domain name maybe a good idea For buyer, they need a domain in rush which do not spend most of the time to auction a domain name. For seller, these kind of auction may need take a long time for auction to wait for potential customers to bid more due to the value of the domain name. They believe would have buyer to auction higher price just the potential customer have not come to them for this short time.
I usually try to post to as many websites as possible. Sometimes I get lucky on ebay; sometimes on forums
