Not sure if it's just me - pretty sure it's not but is anyone else addicted to buying domain names? I have only been in this game since October and already aquired almost 30 domain names! There are only about 15 different domains but usually the .com plus .co.uk of each one and all are related to Forex. Some I bought because I feel that if Forex gets big with affiliates then they are going to be in demand, some I bought because I know I can do something with them and one or two I bought simply because I could Got a one page link through to my main site going from each, only a couple are generating any traffic so far but will be getting the benefits of the linking at the least! So, Im sure its been asked before but are you a domain whore? How many do you own? If you feel addicted to buying them why do you think that is?
If I could buy lots of them, I would, but I simply can't afford it. I've found tons that are still unregistered that I could probably make good money with
I don't feel addicted at all, these days I hardly register a few each month, the available ones that are good are so extremely rare.
Nowadays there are two ways to make money with domains : 1. Create brandable sites from new registered names 2. Buy premium names and resell or use them The old days where you could get nice .com names is gone From the reselling point of view it's not an easy job Find good domains is like the old gold miners You simple can't tell easy if your domain is just a metal or pure gold
I have the same thing happening (yes happening) with me. There are a lot of names that I like and so on. It is only been less than a month. And I have built my portfolio from 10 to 100 now. It is VERY BAD to get addicted to them unless you can truly afford it. Which of course I can't. I have often found myself getting frustrated as the renewal dates come (some of the domains I have bought were very close to renewal dates). It turned from excitements to frustrations. If you get addicted, it is better to stop and think. Plan wisely on what you REALLY want to buy. At the same time, better develop some domains to generate the money because as you busy shopping for domains, the renewal dates come very fast. And that is what I am doing now. I have limited my domain purchasing and slowly pick up developing sites instead of just purely buying.
I am severely addicted to domain name buying. But on the other hand I am also addicted to selling them. So the balance is maintained properly.
Well Ive gone and bought a few more today but Im sure I can sell them all again pretty quickly for a nice profit.....thats the plan anyway!
It is like casino, when you buy a domain you think about the money that you can get for this domain, in more than 70 % of bought domains are not usefull. They do not have high value but you just think that someone will buy it and you continue with next domains. When I started, it was a year ago, I bought one domain, then I bought seodir.net, now I own 15 domains... most of they are already excended to 2008/2009/2010 but I still worry about the day when they will require payment. Mine problem is that I own some good domains but I havent time to create some good site on this domain, so I do not get any money...
Just hour ago I've realised that some world cup domains are free so i've got them all, and i'm soooooo happy now, but I was sad to find out that euro footbal cup domains are taken up to euro2028...
Oh lol, but ye people invest much in internet now, Internet became very important media, and still growing up...
It's sort of like gambling. There is an element of chance in registering a domain that someone else may come along and offer you a lot of money for. I like the creative process of thinking of something before anyone else does!
Put those domains to use with an automated video blog. You can turn around and sell them as a site or just collect revenue. Cheers
Because you can buy them for $7 U.S. and dream of selling them for millions. Or at least thousands. I own over 1000 so I'm speaking from experience. But while I haven't made millions or even thousands on any of them I still earn enough to buy the Registrar each year and keep a small profit for my time. So as said, it's like gambling but the odds are better in your favor.
Domainer's Syndrome is normal. You want to get all the domains thinking you can resell them for a higher value or develop and monetized it with adsense but since you don't have much time to maintain all those names, you ended up selling below regfee or even give them for free just to get rid of it.
Oh, no if you are really addicted you pay the renewal fee year after year after year, sure that you will receive an outrageous offer or you will get around to doing something with the domain name.
i buy one whenever i think of one i really like. the addiction is so easy to get into b/c of the low cost. though 30 is pretty crazy = ) how is forex working out for you?
I buy and sell domains, have been doing it for years. I wish I could say I made a lot of money doing it but it is fun. gene
