I'm confused about why CPM is a better course for higher traffic sites rather than a CPC approach - would sticking with CPC mean more of what you are currently converting? Also, it seems to me that most low traffic sites are only making a few pennies a week with CPC to begin with. Why do ppl bother? Yes - I'm a newb - don't flame me ! I'm just genuinely curious.
Because when you have high traffic and don't want to count on people clicking you ads, you can make more, and more easily by going the CPM route. Think about it.... myspace or facebook get millions of visitors per month, why have the advertising paycheck be dependant on clicks?
and people bother because a few pennies is better than nothing, and they hope it will increase with time. you will not make a million dollars with PPC on a site that is unestablished.
If you have CPM then you don't have to try to get clicks by putting adds in annoying spots, which is nicer on your viewers and still profitable for you.
It's not really about the traffic, it's more about the type of site you have and the type of visitors. For example, Google uses CPC and they get a higher CTR on their search engine. People are likely to click on ads on their search results pages. But high traffic sites that have entertainment type content like videos that people can watch, then people are more likely to keep watching the videos without clicking on many or even any ads, which is where CPM comes in force.
John, you say it shouldn't be traffic based, but realistically, how much traffic would be a turning point? (If you were to take traffic into consideration)?. Leighton
I didn't want to start a new thread for this so I just ask it here (it isn't really offtopic in my opinion). What are good CPM programs? I just can't find them, I always find PPS and PPC programs.
Tribal Fusion and Casale Media. I hear they're good. Canep Media is not bad either which is one of the ones I use.
Hi Can i please ask two questions about this, 1, what is an OK amount for CPM, im getting 0.70p or in dollars $1.40 is that any good? i get about 300-500k Pages viewed per month. 2, can you have more than one companies adverts like, Canep Media and Tribal Fusion running at the same time? Thanks

CPM is an acronym for Cost Per Thousand, the "M" in CPM derives from the Latin "mille" for "thousand." CPC is an acronym for Cost Per Click, it is also referred to PPC or Pay Per Click.
