I searched for this answer abd couldn't find the answer.

This probably came up before but how could PR be less on the xyzjoes.com domain than on the "xyzjoes.com/index.htm" domain

Same reason www and no-www are not the same.

    As this post suggests:

Also Home.html & home.html may have different PR, cause in Linux they are different pages.

OK..thanks for the update..I didn't do a mod rewrite to the .htacess file. not sure how specifically.

anyway, as of today both pages are back to a PR5 the ".com" and ".com/index.htm"
    this is still strange.

That's it, try with some .htaccess or redirections to get only 1 URL as your homepage :)

the difference between www. something. com and something.com can be dealt with by giving your preference for one or the other in google-sitemaps (for google, not any other search-engine, obviously).

The index.html thing - you do need some technical solution on your side. Personally I just let that one slide.

it is not due to NOT using www in the url.. I never mentioned that.

I had always thought www.abc.com and www.abc.com/index.htm were equal.

    no more thinking ...I guess.

I will look around to correct mod re-writing the htacesss file.

    Thanks
