chitika pays very low per click but when you don't have adsense, a little is way better than nothing. And since they were advertized by yahoo when they closed their adsense competitor, now chitika is the second best network when it comes to PPC, unfortunately (because that means other networks pay even less per click)
If you want real stats about Chitika, here they are: On the site in my signature I display chitika ads, size 300x250. I give you the stats from the first ad near the top of the page and within the content, only displayed on content pages (top lists): 3,451 impressions, only 46 clicks which means the ads are not very related despite showing after a search query (1,33% CTR) and the worst of all, the earnings.. $0.8 ! Less than $0.02 per click and $0.23 CPM, how lower can it be? And they pretend my domain is silver approved.. Chitika must be laughing hard, giving their publishers peanuts.. and making up stories about levels, with the text "Pending Approval for Gold" since forever.. Oh yes, I want to be approved for Gold so I can earn $0.03 per click, please.. But what can you do? Try another PPC network and earn even less? Don't know.. If you know please tell me about it, thanks..
Hi, Why do you still running like rats for this ads networks? If you got niche website or blog with unique content and focused on the presented topic, probably you will do more money placing banners and ads of affiliate programs, which are relevant to your content. You should re-think your monetaizing approach. You will never get "rich", displaying Chitika or similar "programs".
As you said, if you got niche website or blog, but what if you don't? If your website has many categories? I know, I should select one or a few products per category and then display them depending on the current page's category. That's a work in progress At the moment I've put my own script as an alternate url of the chitika ad, but I feel like most of the views chitika displays something instead of my script, as I'm not in their favorite western countries, I don't see it.. But yes, at this rate chitika can only be temporary, it's way too low to be honest.
It's better than Adsense if you've been banned. That's it. I wouldn't recommend it in any other situation and even if you did get banned from Adsense, I'd encourage you to find a different way to make money.
Hi, I really do not know how to help you. I never developed general websites or blogs, about everything and nothing. I really sticky focus on travel and hotels category ( one hotels site + travel directory) and my second topic are lotteries and games. (two sites and directory) I feel very good in this topics, got deep knowledge during the years of the developing this sites. And there are hundreds of affiliate programs in this mentioned categories so, when my sites get bigger and get more visitors, I am planning to get out of any ads from ads networks. There will be only affilliate ads, in the future.
You were right all along, I don't know how long ago you've started, but you didn't do like me and let the lazyness win. That thinking was at the back of my mind and each time it cames too close to the front, I'll fight it off because adsense money was so easy and more than enough, so instead of diversifying and go into affiliates I stayed on adsense, increasing traffic from search engines and dealing with the various penalties from the main search engine.. But that's ok, I'm not yet dead so now at least I have something to keep busy at least for a halftime job
Chitika has improved their cpc but its only because they have their CPC charged with adsense or doubleclick ads.
Update, for 2 weeks on one site best-reviewer.com now the average cpc is $0.03 it is still about 7-10 times less than adsense, but it could be worse, it could be $0.01.
If AdSense had a powerful rival, one that would be at least as good as it, then people will find out very fast! Nor Chitika, not any other program gets close to AdSense.
