why is awstats and Google analytics show a different stats?

Does any of you guys know why google analytics and awastats show different numbers. and what should we trust?

 

awastats works of the web servers access logs. Includes bots, hacking attempts etc. etc.

analytics is external from the web server and only includes visits from users with java enabled.

 

i have awstats, it shows the bots and crawler stats separately... in my view awstats is more accurate than google analytics.

 

awstats only separates some bots, usually search engines.
The spam bots and hacker bots it classes as visitors 95%+ of the time. Even msn bot, when it does its checks for cloaked pages, usually gets classed as a visitor.

No stats program can ever be totally accurate visitor wise.

 

Because they are using different algorithm to track the stats of your site. Both tools are good.

 

Rally? I'll take this as answers to the separate thread I started. what is the % of inaccuracy of google analytics compare to awstats?

 

yees I am wondering too, that they happened to have a diffrent stats engines? why... dont know here, help please.

 

It's because Analytics only tracks people with JavaScript enabled, awstats tracks everyone.
