have just returned to this forum after a short absence and am surprised to see that the same old same is being said by the same old culprits. it seems that the 'why does the whole world hate america' club is still going strong. but why? every nation has its critics and take it from me there are countries presently taking as much shit on the worldwide stage as america, if not more. i have never come across a more self-obsessed nation, intent upon playing the victim to some kind of worldwide conspiracy. my advice is to just grow up and get over it. britain has had more than its fair share of critics, as have most european countries, and the majority of middle eastern countries are openly vilified by the west. perhaps if anyone does hate americans it is simply because they keep whining on and on about how everybody hates them!!!!!
Americans here think they are the only ones with food on the table and the right to vote, they dont see a world beyond america, everyone else is dying in poverty and jealous of them, thats what they think. Ive lived in europe also for a bit, i really think the only difference is that Europeans are generally much nicer, better off and less obese.
When you travel around the world as I do you get to feel the hatred other nations have against the UK & America for the way they have bombed countries to pieces in the last 8 plus years Foreign nationals are sick of all this and show it at the first opportunity, and I can tell you it's not pleasant when they start on about western governments etc
i know this, i have travelled in the middle east where feelings run pretty high. but the west doesn't save its punches when making its feelings clear on middle eastern countries either. of course present US and UK foreign policies don't endear countries such as iraq, iran, and afghanistan, to them for obvious reasons. but most british people don't spend so much time self-obsessing. it is as if despite kicking the shit out of other countries most americans want to be seen as the heroes they are so famous for depicting in their movies. but real life 'aint like that. not everybody at the wrong end of a US soldiers gun is going to see that soldier as his saviour.
I don't care if people criticize the states its just the incessant whining and the obsession with Americans, it gets a bit boring and does indicate jealousy. And BTW Europeans are just a obese as Americans! Europeans are ignorant to that fact. Not only are they obese but they have a greater risk of heart disease! Whine whine whine all you want....it only reflects on you not on Americans.
Because it's the in thing to do now is bash american now. "They hate what we are, they want what we have"
I think American wont be an American if he dont say "I'm the greatest and who are you little ant?" That desribes it all. Not really, I dont even know what you have and your land miles away from mine. All I want is an equal attitude to ALL people, and stick to your borders. I think its the other way around, you are hunting to get the whole world.
I think it's just the government and a small majority of people. Yeah, we elected bush, but he lied to us. Now we are mad, not at other countries, but at our leaders for manipulating us. <<< just my personal opinion... maybe the rest of the country really is like that... I don't get out that much. Sometimes I get a little defensive too when people talk bad about us, because I've always enjoyed reading about other cultures and long to see them, but sometimes it feels like everyone hates us for messing up and I wonder about my safety in those countries if I didn't blend in well enough. In reality it's probably much safer then it is here though.
By nature the American people have been reluctant to World Affairs, Woodrow Wilson ran on the promise of keeping Americans out of WWI, We didn't rush into WWII either, We sat by and watched tons of people getting slathered in Rwanda, and now Darfur, It was Europe that dragged us into Kosovo. For the most part we have kept to ourselves.
