Why is a 'dropped' domain not worth as much?

Hi - I am venturing into buying old domains with PR. Some domains for sale say 'never dropped' or 'no drop' while others say 'dropped' or 'one drop'. What difference does this distinction make to the domain?

I have heard that older domains will retain PR more easily, but if a dropped domain has retained its PR through the last couple of PR updates, does that mean it is stable?

    Thanks in advance...

it really depends on so many factors such as backlinks , name , brandability of the dropped domains. PR drops for such domains normally

Because a pile of dropped domains with PR are fake PRs. Most buyers aren't capable of doing the due diligence necessary sift out the fake PRs from the valid PRs.

Also, there's a mistaken belief that domain age matters.
