When you go onto GoDaddy, you'll notice that .com domains are $9.99. Not a bad price... still a good bargain for what you're getting. And, of course, .com domains seem to be worth the most for resale... they're the most brandable... and they tend to get more traffic because visitors can remember them. But then look at the pricing for other types of domains... .me domains cost 19.99 .ca domains cost 12.99 .tv domains cost 24.99 It doesn't make sense to me. WHy do these cost more? I mean, who would want to register a .tv domain that costs $24.99, when you can get a .com for less? I suppose there are more .tv domains available... but if you want to seriously brand a domain and create a high-traffic website, wouldn't you want a .com? I just don't understand the pricing. The way I see it, .com domains should be $9.99 and .me, .tv, .ca, etc. should all be LESS money. Your thoughts?
I do not think a .com is cheaper to register than a .info As for the others, one factor that affects pricing is who administers the extension. Domains administered by ICANN tend to be priced lower in terms of upfront registration costs. .COM is practically a brand, so despite low registration fees, it commands a higher price in the aftermarket, generally. .
Yes new .info's are much cheaper but the other ones have higher prices as they cater for niche areas where the prices are a bit higher since they don't sell as many as .com etc.
Lol .info is very cheaper than .com and I think most of the good .com domains are already taken.. so, some new TDL's like .me are high priced than .com
