I'm just curious as to how Iowa has become a hot spot for political campaigning? Does it have something to do with their education, location, news...?
Iowa has the earliest action in the primary election process. Momentum there can propel a darkhorse into the limelight, or cement the lead of a front runner. Iowa and New Hampshire are the two biggest states for early campaigning. On the Republican side, this has been an interesting primary season. Giuliani is banking on Super Tuesday when the largest states all vote, basically ignoring IA and NH, Romney is strong in Iowa and New Hampshire, and Ron Paul has offices in almost all of the early primary states. Mike Huckabee is living in Iowa, and John McCain is banking on a strong New Hampshire showing. It will be really fascinating to see how these two early states play out.
I understand that Iowa and New Hampshire are states where early campaigning is focused, but my question was why.
