Why India is the Best!

I would like to also ask (in all due respect) Why some Indians have a fascination with fair skin? Some time ago I came across this site, with people just asking how to make their skins fair, also fairness cremes in India is a billion dollar industry.

The women in that site also basically are saying that if they are not "fair" they stand few chances of getting into a "good" marriage. Is that true?

I know this Indian lady who has two daughters, she won't let them marry anybody unless the guy is rich and fair (the girls are "dark", go figure) Anyhow, I saw her recently and one of her daughters seem to be interested in this white American man, the mother is thrilled! I just don't understand it, what's this fascination of some Indians with fair skin?

Yeah, some of the older generation people actually have this colonial hangover. I mean, India was ruled by the British for almost 2oo years, and they were quite racist in those times...Probably that caused some sort of inferiority complex
and it just got passed

But its not true with everyone..especially the younger generation of today. I myself find dusky women far more attractive and arousing than the fairer varieties

that fair skin is good black is bad in india (???)... , The real indians are black skined people ... about 4000 or 5000 years back some aryans came to india from middil east or western uropeian side that people was white color .. in that time they have to be kning of the india so they said the white is good , the same thought came again when british indian times, that was one idea to continue their monopoly here ... BUT aryans and british and indian tribles DNA is same now ( they where Fu**n at all night togather )

but i think now a days there have big changes after the globlisation and rich life style, who have the money thats good in india now.

2)hardwork
3)commitment to any job
4)family values

This is not unique to Indian culture, but most cultures where the natural color of the skin is impacted by 'extensive outside time'. For example, both in China and Japan white face, and pale skin considered more beautiful, then the tanner skin shades.

I think, British influence enhanced and reinforced this in India, but it was not the primary reason. Think about it - you even answered your own question. Who can afford to stay out of the sun? The wealthy. People assocated pale skin, (and girth) with wealth.

Even 500 years ago, those who toiled on the fields did not have the chance not to get a deep tan, or get large. Take a look at the Polynesians, whose preference swing toward the extreme in size.

Why? Because huge weight and size implied wealth. Even in Western civilizations just a few centuries ago fat was considered "healthy & wealthy".

So, just as wealth was associated with weight in Western countries and amongst Polynesians, so is pale skin considered wealthy and higher class/cast most of Asia.

(Note that what is presumed and what really is, is two different thing. And yes, I had goat curry for lunch.)

I was under the impression that chess was developed in china then spread outwards gaining modifications. Is indian chess more related to international or chinese?

 

i dont think taj mahal should matter in this list...its more of something to be not proud of...since it was built on exploitation/violent rule/and involved slaves..
also it wasnt brilliant in design, more famous for being all marble and the romantic aspect since it was made for rulers wife..

but aside..india is a special country

 

Guess we Indians are obsessed with fair skin, have always been.One reason i can think of is cos of all the fairness cream adverts that pounded their brain saying "if u are dark u are uncool " for years .Recently a court banned all these adverts .

 

This is why india is best..
In Other countries no matter how close relatives you have or infact if its even your parents they hesitate to invite and any strangers are most welcomed in our country

 

Indian can now win races at the Asia Games! Now all they need to do is figure out how to pass the gender test.
