The current growth rate of 9%+ is not sustainable in the long term. A growth rate of 5-7% can be expected for the next two or three decades.

Even if we assume the Indian economy will grow at 9%, it will take at least 25 or 30 years for India to reach a stage where it can be called a developed country.

Bravo! after a long time some one posted a quality post for India. I myself felt those posts about roads, transportation etc quite ridiculous...

Respect to elders maybe, but by the recent news stories no respect to kids since over 8% of Indias employed are CHILDREN sometimes 11 years old working as servants.

    It is where the democracy

All us (Indians) are part of Government of India

I am not speaking about the Government that consists of politicians

I am speaking about the people who pay taxes and they consist of Government of India (GOI)

As stated in my post , we do admit of certain laquanas we have in our system.India is vast country with a population over 1 billion . We have good number of people who are under poverty line. It will take us sometime to overcome these issues ..

Consider following recent facts about our growth pattern:

    i) Some 5-6 years back we had 5 million phone connections and now we are adding 5 million of them every month

ii) Again 4-6 years back the total area which we had for commercial purpose
    is being added every month

iv) If we continue to move at such a pace we will have technical people to the tune of Austrailan Population

    v) India Diaspora has helped every country to grow .In a recent article from USA Indian community was judged the best community in terms of technological advents.

There are 3.22 Millions of INDIANs in USA (1.5 % of population).

o YET, 38% of doctors in USA are INDIANs.
o 12% scientists in USA are INDIANs.
o 36% of NASA scientists are INDIANs.
o 34% of Microsoft employees are INDIANs.
o 28% of IBM employees are INDIANs.
o 17% of INTEL scientists are INDIANs.
o 13% of XEROX employees are INDIANs.

This has been possible by the brain drain from India . Now this year for the first time the number of people going minus coming to India is negative . So we should well imagine how good that is for India considering above facts.

With current growth the number of technical guys will cross the population of Australia.

Great but what does that have to do with the Indian govertment not making a proper legal age for work. Why would you also be happy that so many Indians have run away from your country to work in America, is that really good stats?

We do have a proper legal age for work, and its above 14 years according to the most recent child labour law enacted in 2006 by Government of India.

I certainly wish the minimum age was set higher...say 16 or 18 years. But its very difficult to enforce it because ours is a large country with the 2nd largest population; and quite a large part of it lives in poverty. Parents in rural areas expect their kids to work for the extra income..just so they are able to sustain their family and livelihood better.

Only better and more equitable economic progress can help solve that problem.

I think the discussion here is very good

It would be better if Government of India starts a forum on importnat policies as

it will help people to voice their concerns and they could help the Government by their ads

also I think it will soon happen in one day

This is what we could call as Democracy

Thanks for the statistics Software outsourcing

SAR420 has replied you regarding the legal age framework. Regarding the second query .. .. If you keenly read my post I never said we are happy about it .

“This has been possible by the brain drain from India . Now this year for the first time the number of people going minus coming to India is negative . So we should well imagine how good that is for India considering above facts. What we are happy about “

I used word brain drain ,so obviously we are not happy about it . What we are happy about is the reverse trend happening now .
