Why I'm not getting 1st page Ranking?

I'm working on 2 sites for my client but not getting 1st page ranking.
The keywords are high competitive as follow:

    mydomain1.us:
1st keyword - 14,700,000 searches in Google, Globals monthly searches 246,000
2nd keyword - 23,800,000 searches in Google, Globals monthly searches 1,220,000

    mydomain2.me:
1st keyword - 13,300,000 searches in Google, Globals monthly searches 450,000
2nd keyword - 10,200,000 searches in Google, Globals monthly searches 40,500

I'm working from more than 5 months but not getting expected result. Both my sites in Joomla. 1st site is .us extension with just 3 pages and my client didn't updated any content yet, and 2nd site is .me extension which is also with 3 pages and not any updated content from months.

I pulled these both sites on page 6 but they again went back to page 22 & 25.

I did many off page optimization work and on-page seo is also good.

My client also promised to pay me when he will reached in google top 5 which I'm not getting from many months and struggling.

Please help me to know if I'm doing anything wrong?

    Thanks

total visits and search ranking of particular keyword both are different things so if you want to target any keyword then concentrate on that one while doing seo

Competition and global monthly search volume doesn't matter for ranking. Offcourse highly competitive keywords take some time to rank. But here in your case, it seems you should ask your client to update the website and should add some more pages with very good keyword density. Hope it may help you.

that's very hard to tell the reason without seeing your site and your competitor site
Also, i cant know how "good" your on-page and off-page SEO

Therefore, i can only suggest to get some high quality backlink from the page with your keyword

If your client is not updating content of sites then you should create free blog and place link of your actual sites there. And update that blogs regular. If your blogs get fast indexing and more caches then placed link of your actual sites will also will index fast and it may help you to get high SERP.

I think mainly backlink is your problem and of course the content. More updates and more backlinks will help you out there.

Google is changing its parameters for ranking. Blog comments are not as powerful as they use to. Good organic back linking seems to be the way nowadays. And page quality is also a big factor... It's all about improving user experience...

Without the actual URLs and keywords I couldn't really offer any opinions or advice on why it isn't working. We need to see the actual material before we can help.

    Hey Predator007,

Google also likes to see a variety of content:
    - Original Writing, Images, Videos
    - RSS Feeds
    - Blog/ Comment Section
    - Links, Backlinks

Also, it sounds like the keyword might be too broad if there are that many searches for it.

    Hope this helps!

Yeah but going for one that's got too few searches might not get you many viewers or sales.

You need to get more links! And you should not go for competitive keywords if you don't have a huge budget.

It would be hard to say why your sites are not ranking. There are so many factors involved and the leading search engines do not disclose and frequently change the algorithms they use to rank pages.

You should make sure that you have properly optimized your site with internal linking structure and content management. Putting up a blog section could improve the site's traffic generation process. Provide high quality and add fresh content regularly. It's important to have exceptional content so that other sites would want to link to your site.

You could launch a link building campaign that will concentrate on the following methods:
    1) Guest blog posting
    2) Social media engagement and marketing
    3) Community participation
    4) Constant link search (seek for link opportunities for the site to improve search engine rankings) – this should be a part of the campaign’s daily tasks

Make sure that you target linking pages that are high quality, relevant and trustworthy to obtain more value from the links that will be acquired from them.

    Hope that helps!

In your case, continue changes in website content. Sometimes it only helps in gaining ranks on SERP. I have seen that yahoo considers suddenly when you do on page work.

Its very hard to tell the exact reason without knowing the actual website. As you said that both the websites are in Zoomla, I wonder if there are some onpage issues in your websites. Check every details for your website and try to grab some good quality backlinks.
