I've always liked NameCheap. There prices are competitive and their control panel is very intuitive, but after a recent transaction I'm practically a fanboy. I bought a domain recently (PHPKing.com) that was registered at eNom. I didn't want to buy an eNom account (yes now I know you can find them free or cheap) so the seller and I agreed to transfer the domain to my NameCheap account. He unlocked the domain and sent me the EPP Key which I entered over at NameCheap. NameCheap rejected the EPP Key and promptly refunded the money for the transfer. I tried to put the transfer through again with the same result so I contacted the seller. The seller confirmed that the EPP Key was correct. I emailed NameCheap support on a Saturday evening and they emailed me back quickly asking me what the domain was followed by a short paragraph explaining what EPP Keys are and how they're used. I emailed them back Sunday afternoon and they got back to me that same afternoon telling me that the EPP Key was invalid and I should contact eNom. I thought maybe the problem was with NameCheap and there was a domain I wanted to register (seo-contests.info) so I registered a new domain with GoDaddy. GoDaddy had their .infos on sale for $5.99 (I just found out that NameCheap has theirs on sale for $2.98 ). But you get a free year of WHOISGuard at NameCheap and after that it's only $1.60 - $2.88 depending on how many subscriptions you buy. At GoDaddy it's $4.99 for 'Private Registration' (it's free today ). So what would've cost me $2.98 at NameCheap cost me $10.98 at GoDaddy. So I went to transfer the domain. This cost $13.90 at GoDaddy on sale. It was $8.88 at NameCheap regular price. The transfer failed again so now I was sure the problem was with eNom. GoDaddy did not indicate if they were going to refund my money like NameCheap did. I contacted the seller again. He told me he would contact eNom support and he sent me a screen shot showing that the EPP Key was the one he got from eNom. He also said if I registered an account at DomainJ.com I could get a free push there. So now my domain is at DomainJ. There is something wrong with eNom since neither NameCheap or GoDaddy could transfer the domain from them. GoDaddy's "sale" prices are outrageous. I always hated their ads too, you know the ones with the bike builder and the bimbo. I don't like their control panel either. On every page during the checkout at GoDaddy they try to sell you at least 5 things, all of these things are on sale, and the prices are too high on all of them. It cost me a few dollars but I learned my lesson. Cliff Notes: -NameCheap is cheap -NameCheap has quick and helpful support even on the weekends -NameCheap has an easy to use control panel -GoDaddy is much more expensive than NameCheap -GoDaddy's control panel sucks -eNom sucks
Another vote for NameCheap here. Their interface is easy to use, unlike GoDaddy's maze. I've had to use support a few times with transfers and NameCheap is always helpful and responsive.
Glad to hear you found what you were looking for. I have been with godaddy for 7 years now and have been very happy. From experience, I learned that its best to keep all the domains in one place as its much easier to keep track. Just remember that you may save $3 or $4 here and there, but the hours of frustration is really not worth it. Good luck getting the domains transfered.
I started using namecheap and like it a lot. I have a domain at another company that has been frustrating trying to change over.
i'm also big fan of name cheap,i've all transfer my domain to namecheap.best thing is paypal payment for me.
I sent an e-mail to namecheap over 2 months ago asking them why the e-mail addresses that I had set up on my www.spanishsunproperty.com domain with them were not getting through to me and I am still waiting for a reply. I have now been forced to include a seperate e-mail on my website as my e-mail addresses lodged with Namecheap don't work. Having said that youcan't beat them for hiding your " Whois " JB
