    IE comes along with windows and since majority of the people use windows, they use IE by default...and not by choice...

    Also majority of the users don't know of any other browsers other than IE because they are basic users and not that computer savvy

    Firefox is a great browser but windows does not offer an option to use it and I highly doubt they will in the future..... unless they get some money...

    IE has more users because it is the browser that is built into windows which is the operating system that comes pre-installed on the vast majority of computers. And most people have the "If it is not broken then don't fix it" attitude and even if it appears to work they won't bother to change.

    Or get money taken away from them. The EU has charged Microsoft with anti-trust over this which could force MS to remove IE as the default browser and they would have to offer other browsers for installation. The US Justice Department still has MS under restrictions over this from 2001 though they never forced MS to offer other browsers.
