Jessalynn, whenever someone insults you for your quotes, just PM them back with:

I would insult you back, but my words are too expensive. Actually, even this PM should cost you ($0.1 x 18 = $1.8) :)

I didn't come here to market off DP as a writer, I'm actually trying to reduce my writing and start working more towards SEO and advertising. I just figured, since I'm here, why not? And I already got some good clients from DP that I'm doing projects for. My rates are nowhere near yours ($0.03-0.05/word for me) but then again neither is my experience (4 years as a copywriter). I can totally understand why you would charge that much. People insult you for your rates because they are used to the "I cna writ wel!" $1 per 500 words people.

Jessalynn, you are right to stick to your prices as you are already receiving work at those prices and there is no point doing the same amount of work for less reward.

I may have rates that are lower than yours, although my experience is not as extensive; I still try and stick to my pricing level. I only set low rates as I do not have years of experience or worked with many DP content buyers. I have always fully intended to raise my rates as my experience grows and I focus on a specialist area.

The internet is a global marketplace and global pricing is to be expected. However, if a buyer requests a quote they should not insult you for providing them with what they requested. You replied to them but didn't meet their budget and they should just have sent another quote request to another author that could meet their budget.

Let's face it, a rant thread will always get a lot of coverage :)

Well, especially with a rant like this -- very articulately written -- I won't wonder if it stayed an active thread for the entire year :D

Ironically, although at some level CoolCopy is competition for me, I want this thread to stay up because I want buyers to see it too. Pay us what we deserve, or we'll rant the fuck up!

Edit: Am I allowed to say rant on DP?

    Never noticed this. Hahaha.

    Seeing
I'm not really sure 'rant' is the word you should be asking permission to say around here.

    Funny as f.

A well constructed rant can be seen as a well devised advertisement of your qualities as a writer to provide a unique insight into a perceived problem.

It can only enhance your profile and bring you to the attention of people who are willing to match your rates and need your skills.

Lol! I never thought of it as an advertisement...

Hmm... now that you mention it, that's not a bad idea. Stir up some controversy, bring in new busness! Should have thought of that a long time ago! ;)

    Thanks! :)

Took your time on that one, didn't you :D

I guess most blogs live off this. Stir some controversy, bitch about another blogger, a politician or generally a famous person, rant about something that happened the other day and voila...linkbait material.

Tudi Rants About Cat Poop Smelling Badly!

Of course I'd have to be famous for it to actually work.
