Why I hate Flippa and would much rather be buying/selling sites on DP

I've never bought or sold a site, I know about sitepoint, I was already a member when they moved out their marketplace to create flippa..
But if one day I want to sell one of my site (for sure I'll never buy one, don't see the point) then I'll advertize it on DP only, maybe on ebay (if free) and other PERSONAL ways such as on the site itself and on my other sites..
But I won't pay to sell it.
So Flippa you can forget about it.

When you make false revenue claims, even 10 days revenues is worth selling it.

I don't think so. I have a hard time selling at 3 months of revenue with proofs.
And when I buy, I often have site for a week or 2 of revenue. I bought a site for $58 and it was making $750/month. I made it doing up to $1450/month but I could only selling it for $650.

if it was me, and its earning that much, and your selling for 3months profit or less, then i think id rather hang onto it.
for your last site, you would have made more money running it for another month then turning it off, rather then selling it for 2 weeks revenue

    It is simple.

Setup a website. Make some sales paypal transactions ( Cancel after you sell the website. Between friends)

    Take a screenshot

Try selling it for few months revenues.

There is no other reason why one will sell a website for 3 months revenue.

But unlike flippa, the success rate of selling such fake websites is low here as other members will alert the possible buyers. Also the fact that iTraders and new payment system will help us decide if the guy has good reputation.

I disagree. There are plenty of site for sale at 3 months of revenue out there. But it's not easy to sell them. So no need to say at 10 months of revenue.
The fact that I have perfect feedback make buyers to be more confident to deal with me, that's true.

The only thing is most of people believed that there is nothing to do or at least they hope they can buy a site that will bring money doing nothing. There is no such site. You need to keep it alive to get your click or sales. If not, it will die slowly but surely.
So when I sell a site doing $100/month with my work/time spent on it, it will do the same with the new buyer. It's when I tell the buyer that he need to post once a week in the blog/put new content/send a few email with new products/...etc... that they back up.
"Oh, I need to actually spend 10 minutes/week to make that $100?? Oh no, that's not for me then!"

Right now, I have a site that bring $99/month doing 20 minutes of work/month for $299 for sale and there is no taker. Why? It needs 20 minutes of work every month to reach that pay.

    20 min work = 99$ means, you are earning 300$/Hour and hence 2400$/Day and 52800/Month or $ 633K/Year.

Why should you sell it will be question of everyone who wants to buy it.

I do not think you will be able to sell it.

So better keep it. Spend 20 min time a month and keep earning 99$ (May be you can donate to charity after making your 299$ in 3 months.

I think its abortively fine to buy for 3X (monthly profit), if its consistently earning, even though it has 1 hour work per week.

I have about 65 sites right now and downsizing because I can't handle all of them properly. I had up to 120 at one points.
While you math are OK, this site will not go as high as $633K/year but the revenue can be increase if working 1h/day instead of 20 minutes for sure.
And you right, I have a hard time to sell it so no, not everyone wants to buy it.
It is not because the price is 3 months of revenue that everyone want to buy it.
Lots of "webmasters" have read here and there that a site sells for 10 times or 20 times the revenue but never ever bought or sold anything...

The comment policy is ridiculous. I had an auction up and I started getting all of these trolls flaming it. I delete their comments and then it looks like I have something to hide, etc. It sucks and I think it definitely impacted my bottom line.

If you're selling a quality website- you'd be nothing short of mentally ill to list it at DigitalPoint rather than Flippa. Not only would your listing be seen by a smaller audience (dependant on which extras you purchase at Flippa), you'd also be advertising it to a much poorer demographic. Websites worth $xx,xxx and above simply do not belong in the BST sections here at DP- FACT.

The fact your posting at DP and claiming that Flippa is the marketplace that's "full of scammers" is hilarious.

It's always been much easier to sell sites on forums rather than Flippa.

Few month back I have listed my site on Flippa with genuine stats. My site contains more than 50 posts of unique content and an Alexa rank of 323,345. But I have received no bids. Whereas, I have seen several sites listed on Flippa with alexa rank of 1,234,000+ received more bids and selling at $1000+. I wonder how is that possible.
