those who don't get the point of Twitter don't understand social media and marketing. I can post a link on Twitter and receive 100+ visitors within the next hour. I don't spam my followers on Twitter and only post links to my stuff very occasionally.
I have tracked a few sales from my involvement with Twitter. I can't imagine what I would do if I were following 1000 - 5000 or more people though. That's a lot of reading!
Be it Twitter, MySpace, Facebook, etc, social networks are here to stay. The discussion if it is worth ones time or not, is debatable. What isn't debatable is that millions use social networks to communicate and the day will come when social marketing will be a necessity. The question is, should we listen to the nay sayers (mostly webmasters) or the millions who are now using it (potential customers). I'm not out to conquer all social networking or social marketing methods, but not to use some of the methods to see how people interact may catch me off guard and I'll be playing catch up. Best to dive in and use a few and see where it may lead.
Get real dude! I write about marketing for a living. That's how I pay the bills. I understand and use social media and marketing in ways you've never dreamed off. And for business purposes there are far better communication platforms than Twitter. Period. End of story. David Jackson

For me it is interesting how Twitter owner makes money with his service. I haven't seen any ads on his website.
hello friend i create Twitter site account but i not know how to use and what next step of this site. plz anyone tell me.
It's not like twitter can really hurt you...it's just a few minutes every day, and if you have a large amount of followers it can be more potential traffic. Twitter is all the rave now-a-days, even my aunt has one..I have yet to break down and get one myself, but when I start blogging I will most likely sign up
Give twitter a try. Try it for a month. See if it works for you or not. Some things people recommend may or may not work for you. If the investment required and the cost of failure is low, then my attitude is to try it out and see what happens. Thats what happened when I started getting interested in affiliate marketing. Some popular internet marketer I know discouraged using CJ and encouraged other affiliate networks like AzoogleAds. So I tried both. I turned out that CJ just worked for me - I found offers I liked and made money with them. It took me a long time to get into AzoogleAds, and when I did, I found they had no offers that fit my geographical target or niche. I dont mean to distract from the topic , but you get my point - you never know till you try.
And get 50 plus clicks to my website. COST: FREE (Well just my time) They were able to fundraise 1 million. I read that on someone's tweet.
Its interesting that people don't understand how to use the benefits of twitter. I don't understand why do they go in to chaos shouting out "why twitter?". Well actually in the beginning, you should understand the purpose of twitter. Then evolve the knowledge in to marketing. twitter.com/hlln my account. I have 1000 + followers. All have the same interest like me. Again and again if you understand what microbloging means "i mean not in words but the whole idea" you could turn this into profits manually.
Actually, any social networking site can be used as a good marketing tool. The problem is, some of them find it hard to build a relevant professional relationship.
I've started using twitter for my blog. I post any new updates on it, but how to get people to follow? Is it a case of following a load of related niches and hoping they will follow you?
To be followed, you need to follow first. Actually, you don't need to follow a lot this early. Remember that it's hard to socialize to everybody at the same time. I think the better way is to create a solid professional relationship with a few. Then eventually, your followers will increase gradually and join your network circle. But of course, you must be able to provide them useful information. You don't need to put a link from your site every now and then. They hate blatant self-promotion. Instead, be knowledgeable of what they need and how you can help them. Good luck!
twitter is an awesome distraction for people. The best part.... It keeps them from competing against you
I didn't get it. Now I get it. Here's how I got it: http://brianrooneyonline.blogspot.com/ (not an affiliate link or sales pitch ... just my experience)
I believe Twitter is highly overrated as a 'marketing tool'. Sure you can get some eyeballs on your squeezepage / blog / whatever after spending hours and hours on it pretending to be some sort of modal social media fanatic (yugh), while all you really want is traffic. I just can't stand the way some people go over it like Twitter is the end-all solution. No, not quite. Even if you get a dozen of followers, only a small percentage is going to click through, and that traffic may not even be targeted.
Why would you spend hours and hours on Twitter? Why would you pretend to be anything at all? Spend a few minutes each day connecting. Be authentic. Done right, Twitter will actually bring you some of the most targeted traffic available. I don't know of anyone silly enough to say Twitter is any sort of "end-all" solution. It's a tool. Used properly, it's a very powerful tool. But spending hours and hours being inauthentic won't produce any real quality results in ANY endeavor ... including Twitter.
