www.webcrop.net I'm offering a free service. On top of that...Im not asking for your last name (like most websites sign up page) not even your first name or email. Still, users will not sign up for my service. What is it? THAT I'M DOING WRONG?
Your demo doesn't work but I'm assuming it's a site that helps you crop images, which you can easily do in MS Paint. It's probably one of these two reasons... or you're not promoting it properly.
My website is NOT "a site to help users crop images". The WebCrop.net service enables you to 1) type a URL example www.cnn.com 2) Crop a section out www.cnn.com 3) Let's the user Refresh just cropped section only (withouth having to visit cnn.com again), add more selection. I believe this is a good tool to read multiple headlines, scoreboards and such. We usually go to a website just for a specific section and not the entire website. Right? What is not working about the demo???? please try again. It seems to work for others.
I believe the "how it works" should just be explained on the main page. The front page looks like it's under construction.
That is a very good point. I will seriously consider changing it to the format you explained. Any comments on the concept of Webcrop.net ?
1. Maybe nobody goes to your website? Your site doesn't have alexa rank and has 0 backlinks. 2. Links: How it works(Flash), Sign Up (Free), Start Cropping! at your website goes to ip address, not domain - maybe some people are scared about this links, you should use domain (webcrop.net) in this links!
Keep the page content and instruction easy and simple. Do not force them to sign but provide the logical explanation why should they sign up and highlight benefits and what will happen if they don't.
If you're doing a reasonable amount of promotion for your website then there are a couple of other things to consider: 1. Try and make your website have a more professional look and layout. At the moment it doesn't really look that appealing. 2. Put more information about your service on the main page. Most people will usually just take a brief look at a website's main page and then decide whether to stay or not. If you have something for them to read when they first arrive, at least you can try and persuade them to stay. Good luck!
you are probably just not getting enough traffic and not promoting it properly. Any time i have had a problem it has been because i just wasn't getting enough traffic to convert sales
1. Its not clear what your site is about - If a visitor can't tell in 5 seconds you're out 2. How many visitors do you actually get? Before jumping to a conclusion like that, gain perspective - If Out of 5 visitors nobody signed up, it's not the site but the traffic you need to work on...
homerwb: I'v fix the links to point to the domain instead of the ip. Thanks! dtrainer: I'v added more content to the main but unfortunate for me I'm not designer but a programmer. My concepts of a good web design are very limited to say the least. giorgioarmani: It's true, visitors will leave if they don't "get it" the first 5 seconds. I had to learn that lesson in this project. Marcus007: I tried to make the main page content more appealing as you said. jasmor81: Traffic is the word then. I think the top reason why people are not signing up is because they don't understand the concept of what my site offers. I made changes base on the comments of this thread. I tried to add more content to the main page and make instructions easier to read. I have not been promoting it as much as I should probably. That should be my next step. PS. Thanks to all who reply to his post for taking the time to help.
