Bug Why I can not use animated avatar while others are...?

Hi, Today I tried to upload an animated avatar (.gif) and I got the message that I can not.
Why? While I can see other members using it?
Please make it clear.

I, personally, have not seen an animated avatar being used on this forum. Would you mind showing a link to a user's profile that uses an animated avatar?

And aside from what I've just said, if there was a way to bypass that, have you tried using Option 1 (Enter the URL to the Image on Another Website)? I'm too lazy to check & see for myself..

Only moderators and admins have that option I suppose.
I'm not sure. I've seen two moderators using it. Thus the conclusion.

Consider them "grandfathered in" before the change took place (the avatars were already there). Newer members may not have animated avatars.
