Hey guys, I am still ranking no.1 for my domain keyword but that isn't competitive. The rest of the keywords I was ranking for my site has went waaaayyyy down suddenly today. I hope it goes back up and it's temporary but if anyone with knowledge wants to take a look and give me their input I would be grateful - debtfreescotland.org.uk Thanks
One day doesn't mean much. Give it at least a week before giving yourself a heart attack. There's lots of changes happening with Google right now, which is affecting everyone, including your competition (in good or bad ways). You would need to provide more information, such as what keywords are you targeting. You would really want to go straight to the search engines that are giving you concern. Visit the respective Webmaster Tools and see what they have to say. Google may tell you what is hurting your site, such as backlinks from spammy sites. This is information that only you could access, so we could only guess. You also must factor in other competing sites making changes that improved their positions. The niche "debt" is highly competitive and known for resorting to spam techniques. I don't have any of my tools up (and am about to go to bed), but you or someone could do some analysis of your site and tell you what could be improved.
First thing, We Don't have key Terms what you are using for search. I want to know what was your last position and what is current. So we can determine what is reason. With out keywords or Key Terms its not possible to analyze it that what is the cause of drop ranking. Second thing we need to analyze that how may back links you have, which website you are using for back links, what type of back links you are doing. What is on page condition, we will check the developer view also.
Fore example... I was ranking well for the term 'Debt Advice Scotland' I was #5 for that I have now dropped to #17 I was building links from paid business directories
How to check backlinks that are coming from spammy sites and how to remove those spammy sites? After removing those spammy sites do i get immediate good results?
Karen you can use Majestic SEO to check backlinks. The real question is what is google now considering spammy?
Hi Nathan, I have seen your website pages, you need to add more content in your website inner pages. One thing more, add a blog page in your website, update it once a week with nice information, it will help you to get back to your previous ranking. Nowadays fresh updated content in your website matters more than getting links, since google is always looking for fresh information. Thanks
There are changes happening in the algorithm. This has affected my site wayyyy badly. Google is now showing my sites internal links. First it used to show up the homepage.
Log into Google Analytics. Assuming you've added your site to it, you can check the status of your site and if there are any concerns that Google has pointed out. If you have any backlinks that Google suspects are spam, then you would want to remove those backlinks (which may include sending out emails to webmasters to ask them to remove).
I can't see any site 'status' Most of my links are from directories... how does google determine what is spam and what is not?
It depends upon the content of the directory. Some directory involves keyword stuffing. Some directory approves pornography content to be uploaded. Also check upon the url address. Some people just adds the directory script to its sub pages or sub domains
hi everyone The reason for suddenly ranking gone is content spamming and not work according to google algorithms likes hummingbirds etc..
Spammy backlinks are links that are just "spammy". Here's what I mean: If you have several pr 0 or pr n/a sites linking back to your main page then ultimately you are killing your money site, because those links have NO value in Google's eyes. YOu want high quality backlinks with a pr of 1 and above, as well as making sure that your anchor texts aren't over optimized towards your money site, as you want to diversify your anchor text ratio because it looks more natural in Google's eyes. A good ratio looks like: URL Main Keyword Loosely Associated Keyword General Niche Keyword Brand Website Name Random Keyword Related Etc. Following that ratio and making sure that you diversify your anchor text ratio is a good way to start! Hope that helps, -Cesar
