    Alright guys,

    I cannot explain somthing.

This is about our online-stopwatch website.

The website itself is doing great -- we're always getting nice emails from people saying how usfull it is.

It's currently getting just under 5000 uniques each day (about 8000 hits)

It's had the No.1 spot in google for "stopwatch" and "online stopwatch" for months.

But someone checked today, and it's dropped to No.2. (I know this dosnt really matter, but i cannot understand it)

    Checkout this image:

We have more backlinks the the No.1 holder
    1 mre Edu links.
we have loads more "phases" on page.

The only thing that puts that site above ours is it's age.

But after we have had the No.1 spot for so long, what happend? did age suddenly have more significance???

(Both ours and the other site is PR4)

Anyway's, i guess this is more of rant then anything else. I know its hard to predict what google is doing.

But anyways, it feels better now i've moaned about it :D

    Cheers guys!

Perhaps you lost a backlink from an authority site (or the new #1 gained a good backlink)

Google constantly tweaks its algo, maybe now you have way more phrases then is appropriate for that term. You can risk loosing further ground by reducing the density or you can take the safer path and just build more backlinks.

    Google's algorithim could have changed.
Or the guy could have got a really good authority backlink.

He also has more links containing the keyword you are targetting, trying to rank for. Check allinanchor and you'll see that he has more backlinks targetting that word.

Perhaps Google just thinks the other site is better?
Goolge has the power to discuss what content they want on their site.
