Why has my Page Rank not Improved?

I have been updating my website, doing a few link exchanges and submiting my unique content to article and tutorial directories. I have also optimized all of the pages.

But still my PR is 0 after months and months of work. Does anyone know why this is?

Could be that from the time you started your site to today's date there has been no PR Update

    1. has your site been indexed in the first place? recently i've seen reports of sites being missed by googlebot and takes months to be indexed (one of my sites also)...

    2. maybe you started the site just before the last update and missed getting into the last toolbar pr update?

anyway, google updates toolbar pr about 3 months once... if you're putting in good work on your site, don't worry... it'll come along...

BTW optimizing your pages won't affect PR, which is strictly a backlink quality and quantity count.

PR is backlink based..(it has no value what-so-ever when it comes to your actual SERPs). PR updates only once in every 3 or so months. The last 2 PR updates have been broken. So, concentrate more on SERPs :)
