If there where more than one popular SE, optimizing would be a shitload more difficult. Imagine you had to understand 2 or even 3 SE's like Google... (just a thought)
but if there was only one search engine they would be in control of the INTERNET in almost all of its entirety. This is bad and prone to corruption if they have no competition.
Hmm, last time I checked there were two other larger search engines called Yahoo! and Live. Google is not the be all and end all of search engines. Unless I'm missing something? KP
I think the problem people have with Google is not so much with the search engine itself. It seems to be more about the arrogance in the way that it makes its' decisions and rankings. They know that they rule the search engine market and aren't afraid to show it.
i think not. we should have more options. all the search engines pretty much follow the same base algo and then add their own flavour into it. with few search engines, you still optimize thinking the basic SEO rule and you will see you are ranking high with atleast one. we need competition for google as monopoly is not good for us webmasters
Yeah, but who voted for google to be king of the internet? Competition is good, more variety, more niches, more free speech/more free market.
Google is # 1 and it would dominate though it has monopolies but we must not forget its much much better than Yahoo and MSN and that's the reason the results shows up. Its only spamers and abusers make the search spammy. Google in the coming 5 years search would completely change as i had chat with google engineers. They would be looking more into blended / Vertical Personalized search providing more relevant searches. The searches that u find now would fade out in next 1-2 yrs becz Web 3.0 is coming which is called semantics search which will change the entire look,,,,,,,, So be ready guys with semantics,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
