Why Google says page doesn't exist in WMT when it actually exists

    Hi,
This thing is driving me crazy and I have been trying to figure out why Google says it. I have a forum that uses MyBB forum software. It was working fine till couple of weeks ago but since then new posts aren't being crawled by Google. Initially I thought, It will take sometime for google to crawl them but later I realised the posts aren't being crawled. When I checked WMT, I saw there was many error saying the pages google is trying to crawl do not exist but they do!

For example Below is the URL which Google says doesn't exists however if you click it, the URL exists and works pretty well.
    URL:
    http://www.chatappforum.com/Thread-how-to-change-phone-no-in-whatsapp

    It says

    Last crawled: 9/24/14
    First detected: 9/24/14
Googlebot couldn't crawl this URL because it points to a non-existent page. Generally, 404s don't harm your site's performance in search, but you can use them to help improve the user experience. Learn more

However the above page works pretty well. I have lot of pages facing this problem and they aren't being crawled even though they exist and work fine.

When I did "Fetch as google", That too says "not found" under status column even though page exists.

Can anyone help me to sort this problem. This error is driving me crazy.
Any help will highly be appreciated.

    Regards
    Sam

Just mark it as fixed and it'll be gone. Sometimes GoogleBot brings up errors that may not exist, your best bet is to check everytime!

The problem has been fixed. I had one plugin enabled which was restricting Google bot to crawl these posts.

I was going to suggest checking your pluggins because I had the same problem with Google not being able to crawl and index pages. glad that you've got it resolved :)

Maybe adding the robots meta tag can help in this case: <meta name="robots" content="index"/>
