Hi guys, I 've ran a one-page selling website in order to promote my ebook since last october. I've done anything possible to promote it (links, dir submitting, articles, SEO etc.) and I managed to index this website to the first page of major s.e. apart of Google. Last thursday I amazingly discovered that my website indexed in the first page of google! I also discovered that the visitors who came from the other s.e. was less than other days but i didn.t care because google is enough... Yesterday, I amazingle, again, noted that none visitors came from google This was thw worst moment of those days. I found that my website dissapeared from google... My questions are 1)Is this google behavior habitual? 2)why this behavior affect other s.e. results? thanks P.S. : My greek is better than my enlish...
I just had something similar two days ago. My name was dropped from the #2 spot for a keyword, but magically appeared back on there yesterday. Wait a day or two and see what happens, but I'm not an expert
I have seen that too much focus on one keyword or keyphrase during linkbuilding can cause this - if your target keyword / anchor text is, say, 'tropical vacation travel' you need perhaps 50% of your links to have a different anchor text - variants such as 'tropical vacations', 'vacation travel', 'tropical travels' and so on. i.e. more like natural links would be, different every time. It seems like a waste of a good link to use the 'wrong' anchor text in a directory or whatever, and it takes longer to rank well, but I'm pretty sure it keeps the results more stable in the long run. And eventually you'll do well for more than 1 phrase as well.
At this point that is natural to google. And sometimes you see different result because of different datacenter of google.
I also notice this. For my new site some page r come then gone then again come then gone then come….. i think dancing dancing.......
Same thing's happening to me, I am hoping that eventually I will keep the top 5 position I am getting sometimes.
keep in mind the algorithm given the same parameters twice will produce the same results. Slight changes in sites that link to you can potentially change your ranking.
Actually the google dance is on continually these days. That's what google says anyhow. So yes, they do keep recalculating the rankings of sites and pages. If you see your site 'dancing' it probably means google doesn't trust your site very much. Just keep building quality content and quality links. At some point (time is also an important factor here) things should even out. I don't see my site dancing at all.
What are the ways to make Google trust your site? IS there a thread on it. Some of which I know are: Getting linkbacks from already popular sites If you have more backlinks from sites which are 1 way liks its better than the 2 way links.
Trust is partly a time game. Older sites are trusted more. Other than that links from sites in your niche help. It's not just about popularity, but also about getting the right links. One way links are good, yes.
Thats a really good point, obviously it should matter if you have the links from related sites. A cricket site with links from a sand art site is just a waste( Sorry, for the poor example).
It is completly normal. Worry after a month. New sites tend to boob up and down a lot more. Don't forget there are several hundred components to the algo. Sometimes you have to switch off the fusebox to change a lightbulb.
