If it's legal or illegal, it's Google's definition of it, not anybody else's, right? If it's popular or big, it's still Google's decision to have them remain on the search. It's a search engine and whether it practices legality or morality in it's work that's not even for the administrators at Google to say. And even court orders could hit snags because what may be legally taboo in one jurisdiction may be all right in others, including other countries..

Google is a search engine, but they know how to punish adsense publishers, they know to to send a site to sandbox. They can also cancel your account because your website is ''illegal''. They know everything guys, which is w*rez, which is illegal etc.

The only thing is, if you are a search engine you have to search more. It means your engine should not be like 1.6 TDI 75HP, it shoul be like V6 or V8 TDI 250HP. Why we are using google is, they can show us the results but the others not. We can find everything what we need in google, but in other engines not.

Summary: If google stops showing the illegal websites,w*rez websites etc. It will be end of google, coz if someone looks for smt. illegal or w*arez, they will change their search engine. Losing visitors, losing money, losing hits etc. I think none of us wants that in our websites right?

You need to talk to your lawmakers. They decide the law! They can end illegal practices and force google to remove their indexes if they wanted too.

But why would, when our own US Govt allows china to rip us off through unfair trade practices?
(We cant not even get paid for the wars that we are forced into, another rip off)

Do you think they are going to care about little bitty illegal sites?

The govt can not even manage their own house, much less clean house.

and since when did porn sites become illegal?
(unless it is kiddy porn, like this 51 year old marries a 16 year old)
    (what a lucky guy (wink)(wink)

and I am not done :)

It would be a huge financial burden on tax payers, guess who flips the bill? Unless the site is super rich, then the
taxpayer would be picking up the tab, and the state would have to investigate, man hours, court hours, and the
burden is on the fed/state to prove their case, then what?, process them, then what? let them go due to overcrowing,
and they have a website back up the very next day. You pick up a prostitute one day, they are back out working the next....

and of course the owners of software, music, etc could always file lawsuits against the sites, well what do
you do when there is nothing to re-coup? It would be more of an expense then a reward I feel....

however, I do not think it would be unreasonable for the govt to do some crackdowns so they can
setup prime examples, and make it be known if you are caught by us, then your life is over...but they
can not, and probably will not try to go after every illegal known site; Congress as more important stuff
to do like use that hammer to close out their 5 min session and go home for 3 weeks out of the month...
(god, we sure do not want to put pressure on our govt to do anything)

people say that google is not responsible, they are just a search engine, bla, bla...

Criminals are robbing the internet bank, and google is driving the get away car.

This is no different then robbing the bank, and someone just driving the car and saying "I was not responsible, I was just the driver"

So google is providing aide to the criminals; Without the get away car, internet criminals would not get far at all.

So if criminals are convicted, then so should google, as they are just as responsible for sending traffic to their sites.

Google cares about getting people to use their search engine. As long as a website isn't too extreme, they'll index it and keep it. thepiratebay is very controversial website and renowned to be used for widespread piracy but it's vague. Google can get away with indexing it and a lot of people who want to find websites like thepiratebay use Google. Imagine if Google one day deleted all filesharing websites and other 'less-legal' sites? People would simply use bing or another search engine.

Google AdWords doesn't allow the advertising of illegal products and services.
All advertising, as well as the products and services being advertised, must clearly comply with all applicable laws and regulations.:)

Because a) they earn too much money on them b) if they start deleting too many sites too many users would revolt
