They are a search engine. They can't verify that the business practices of every site indexed are legal or not.

It is just a search engine. It shows all the websites wherever it finds the search keywords. I think, users should take precautions while visiting such sites.

It is not their job and they aren't doing anything illegal.

Do you suggest that nobody anywhere in the world should be able to access websites that are illegal in the US or who is deciding what is illegal or not?

Online poker is illegal in the US, should Google take those out of its index as well? Even though it is perfectly legal to online gamble in many places?

I think your notion of what is legal is overly simplistic.

I read that very differently. I think he is telling you to get a court order for the site you want removed and serve it on them. Google is not going to be a party to any such issue and it just makes more sense that he is telling people that if they have a problem with a site, take it to court and have that site owner forced to take down their own site and Google's index will reflect that. I see nothing that suggests serving a court order on Google to have a page removed and it does not really make sense that Google would be the subject of such a court order, it would be the offending site.

Having been involved in that process (getting a court order to have content removed) and having obtained a declaration from Google employee about how they do not remove content but will reflect removed content after sometime, I am pretty confident in my understanding.

Whether Google will remove that site or not is solely up to them, short of a court order.

I'm going to confirm what some else said.

Google is just a search engine. It isn't their job, they have millions of other pages to deal with. If they get told to, then they will.

However, just because it isn't there doesn't mean it can't be used, it could be found on other Search Engines too.

Google may be harsher with those type of sites if they opt to try monetizing through Google ads. Hard to say. For sure, despite what Google does to it's search algorithm, the creative users out there will find ways to type in terms to find what they're looking for & dig through the search results until they find it, especially some of the illegal torrents & such.

WTF? What is this all about? Why don't folk use spell checking software? That way, we might have a slim chance of understanding what they are saying...

He's basically whinging, presumably because he can't get any traffic for his own 'legal' sites. The reason, of course, is as you have noticed - his English is so atrocious that probably *nothing* he writes will actually pass google

Google is a search engine not a international police force. What is legal in one country may be illegal in another and vice versa. Google is only responsible for indexing sites not judging the content beyond how well it has been SEO (ed).

If you are so worried about the quality of Google search results, please submit the concerned links to Google. They have a tool for this, Google it.

I think Google had conflicting interests inside the company -
their search division may want clean search results, but
Adsense division could be looking to make as much money as possible.

This is kind of similar to companies like Sony - they sell music,
but they also make mp3 players. These 2 businesses are in conflict
as long as illegal mp3 downloads exist.

Can Sony govern usage of their mp3 players, though?
