How long have you been submitting to directories?

If you submitted to Directories that offer 24 hours inclusion,
then I doubt you will be ever seeing you site in Google or
at the very best it will come up somewhere after 10,000,000 pages

Forget about "fastly" and start submitting to rock solid directories

    ;)

Submit to strong directories and you will see backlinks plus bounce in the serps. Unfortunately strong directories cost money, but some are well worth the initial expense for a lifetime link.

Check webmaster tools to see if you have some backlinks from directories. These links start appearing within a day or two of submissions in 'latest link' sections.

Disagree completely. Go for both quality and quantitive links.

Who told you that Google doesn't crawl directories? It does actually, just like it crawls other sites.

Google will crawl your site, but the rate at which it does it depends on how important it thinks your site is.

Build up some good quality back links, get posting on do follow blogs with the website address as your link.

Don't spam anywhere, do anything naughty, keyword stuff and you should be fine. It WILL take time though. This isn't an overnight experience.

    Check out this article: http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/2010.htm

Should be quite helpful - it was for me and I am just starting out with SEO and website design.

Would you like to explain to me how 1,000 links from sites without PR juice will help you?

if you just submit your site then wait for some time, becaz directory owner take time to approve links. and google regularly crawl directories as other site but if you try to find your link by searching this " link:yoursite.com" then you are unble to see all backlinks. try to use other backlink check tool like backlinkwatch:)

If you have money try to spend on reputable directories like Yahoo, Bussiness or Best of Web :) There are a couple of more reputable directories like Dmoz, but it is hard to be IN... If you have a good quality site try them..

    Best
