Why Google Gives Only 1000 Results

    The real reason for the restriction has changed over time.
    Originally, it was server load issues.
    Nowadays, it's to prevent software from scraping up hundreds of thousands of vulnerable sites to exploit. For example, if there is a glitch found in phpbb software, they don't want someone to be able to find 22 million or so exploitable sites just by searching for "powered by phpbb" or inurl:viewtopic.php
