    Hay all
I work with www.broadwaybox.com it a family owned community website that offers discount codes to Broadway. Any way, we have been around for about 4 years now, and we know we have many sites linking to us .I think most of the links are from Forums but I know that they are at least couple of hunderds sites But when we are doing a google search for links to our s with the link:http:// or just typing our URL, we get a link count of only 22  When we check how many sites mentioning our site we get a result of 800+ which in reality is much more, but it's much better then 22, and also many of these sites counted only as having our name on them are actually linking to our site.

Anybody have any idea to what is going on ? How can we make links to our site count with google ?
    Thanks

No need to worry. Google only displays a small sample of the total links attributed to your site. One of my sites has had around 50-60,000 links for the last year and Google shows around 2,000.

Ranking are what really matters but if you want a better judge, use the link popularity tool at www.marketleap.com

Google doesn't give accurate link: results and hasn't for months...

    Use Yahoo.

Generally higher PR or estabished sites get listed as backlinks, so like the previous posts have mentioned all links will not be shown, but to increase the backlinks to your site in google you need to chase well established site backlinks, possibly PR4+

G doesn't give a accurate figure of all the back links...it is always so different from the figure present in MSN or Yahoo!

I only use www.alltheweb.com to check my links. IMO, it gives the most accurate indication of IBLs (although it can be a bit slow to find them) as it doesn't count site-wide links as multiple links. MSN is also quite good and will show links within days or hours of getting them.

I think that you should just stick to one SE and use it on an on-going basis and as long as the number of links reported by it is growing, you're doing all right! :)
