I would appreciate all from DP who will help me find the solution.

Question : Why Google deindexed my site?

Description : One of my friend's have huge business directory site(where you get all the contact information and address of various services offered and is a dynamic website developed in PHP),this web site earlier used to have huge indexed pages in google and got reduced , even i don't see my site in Yahoo as it was there earlier, so what was the reason that my indexed page got reduced gradually? I would like to know a list of reasons which caused Google deindexing and solution for my problem.

    Thanks in advance:)

Did you offered paid listing on your directory. Coz, Google don't like the websites who offered paid listing and if yes, then use nofollow attribute on all paid listing on your directory.

It might be penalty, dig deeper on your site and analyze what changes you have done on past months wherein you have get negative results. You might be doing something which SE thinks is not ethical and your directory trying violating the TOC.

icool you are right, he should "analyze what changes you have done on past months wherein you have get negative results." but in what concerns the paid submissions, I don't think it's something that bad, as long as even yahoo has a fee for their directory.

    have a good day,

P.S. [tim.berners], could you provide me with the url to check some things on my own? maybe i can help you.

Guys, there can be many reason for de-indexing. Might be your page content on sites are similar and due to this SE's filter the duplicate results and de-indexing pages from your site which the SE's thinks is similar to other pages of the website.

That problem needs treatment from a specialist and he/she should have full access to its resources

    In general,

Google index all the pages in any of the site, until bots were restricted by robots.txt in crawling of your pages.

Mostly, Google never de-index the pages, unless you violate the Google webmaster guidelines.

And Google will not show all the indexed pages in the site:yoursite.com

If you think any of your page was de-indexed, just check directly by typing your page in the Google.

Even if you are not found your page, you can contact Google through webmaster tools.

    Thanks,

Are you even sure it's been deindexed. Sometimes Google will move your page right down the rankings just purely due to fluctuations. When my site was new it'd rank way down in Google and would sometimes even drop to pages I could not be arsed to check.

Google only would've deindexed your site if you did something bad. It's hard to do something bad by accident so if it has been deindexed then you should know why.

I am facing the same problem. All of my pages except home page were de-indexed. I am just depressed for that. At least we should know the reason for that.
