I am new to google adwords, I noticed google wanted me increase min bid to $10.00 for a phrase but same phrase has highest bid of $0.85 on overture.
Why do they have such a big difference?
    any ideas
    Thanks

Google uses a quality score to determine prices, Yahoo/Overture does not.

Also notice that asking you to pay $5 or $10 per click is their way to force you to actually improve your quality score.

If you are intrested, please PM me... I have something to show you to
reduce your cost per click back to the lovely $0.05

    Thanks

Why don't you just post it here? I asked you the same question here.

I say there's no way you can guarantee 5 cent clicks without even knowing what the keywords are. If you can get me 5 cent clicks on all my keywords - via the adwords search network - I'll make you a rich man.

This is indeed a very big surprise for me. I've been actively doing PPC ads in both adwords and Overture/Yahoo for the past three years and my experience points to the opposite. For example, a phrase may be paid by the top 5 bidders from $2-$4 in Overture/Yahoo but I could get ads for the same phrase in adwords for less than $1 (I assure you, it gets displayed; I tried keying in the phrase in the google search and it shows on the ads on the right side of the page).

Of course, the pricing:rank model of google is much more sophisticated (and complex) vis-a-vis overture/yahoo. Google considers your CTR in the pricing and ranking.

You can achieve a very high CTR if what is displayed in the google ads is exactly the same as what is keyed in by the searcher. Google has a very creative strategy for doing this. Let me explain via an illustration. Below is an Ad Group for one of my adwords campaigns:

    {KeyWord:Business Articles}
    Free articles in business and
    management. By world-class authors.
    www.bestmanagementarticles.com

    Keywords:

    business articles
    articles in business
    articles about business
    business related articles
    etc.

What adwords does is if a searcher keys in any of the above keywords, exactly the same keyword is inserted in the {KeyWord:Business Articles}part. So for example, if the searcher keys in "articles about business" keywords, what will appear in the google ad is:

    Articles About Business
    Free articles in business and
    management. By world-class authors.
    www.bestmanagementarticles.com

You may ask what then is the purpose of the word "business articles" in the {KeyWord:Business Articles}. If the searcher's keyword is longer than the allowable no. of characters(25 chars.) , the phrase "business articles" will be automatically substituted in the ad display.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers,

    Ismael

I would add that if you're going to use broad match and dynamic keyword insertion you should make sure you include negative keywords (see example 3).
