Why God, Why???

Ok, I know god's not going to answer this question but I hope some kind human soul would help me find an answer. I run a few sites and have one particular site which I had put alot of focus to.

The question is related to adsense. I earn less then 2 dollars from it even though I average over 10,000+ page views a day and around 50+ clicks!! Its unbelievable! I have few friends who make .25 cents per click. Keeping that in mind, I should be making around 10 dollars a day.

Does the kind of site you have really matter? And is there a way I can get rid of all those low paying ads, specially the CPM ones? I never put much focus on adsense but I would like to now. That site is almost like a waste for now. It should be generating good money for me.

Anyone here who can enlighten me?

That's a terrible click-thru rate. What type of site is it? If it's a forum then click-thru rates are notoriously low, but if not, then you should experiment with a different placement of your ad blocks.

A 250x250 ad block at the top left hand corner of each page, above the fold, gets a lot of click-thrus for me, and also at the end of the content of each page.

Apart from placements, also block low paying MFA site ads using competitive ad filter. You can check adsblacklist.com for more details about such ads and how to block them.

Its a fansite. Could this be the reason? Its very famous though. The stats I have given include the main site and the forums. I the main site gets around 6,000 visits a day though these are *not* unique visits. I am talking about the total visits it gets (forums, photo gallery). Anyways, right now I am not so worried about the CTR. I want to get good ads instead of the low paying ones. I understand I am getting ads which are paying around 0.01 USD for every click. And thats a shame! The site has gone thru 4 complete changes in its design. I have tried all placements. Though I havent tried anything other then a 728x90 or a 486x60 ad.

The site is a fansite for a sportsman. So you can find alot of sport related stuff there. I have been unsuccessful twice already with fansites.

@qwest, it sure is. I envy those people who make $5 a day with just 500 impressions.

And the worst part is that the site consumes over 10 GB++ bandwidth a month. I cant continue with it if I get just 50$ a month from it :(

Keep in mind that Google converts 1,000 impressions into a very low paying click (like $0.01). May be you don't even have that many clicks.

Also make sure that what's on your site is relevant to what google thinks your site is. To do that create a Google Webmasters account. It will show you what the keywords found on your site are and what the keywords LINKING to your site are.

Block low paying ads using the competetive filter and the list from http://www.adsblacklist.com/

You can find more here: http://www.johnchow.com/using-the-competitive-ad-filter-to-increase-adsense-earnings/

    Hope that helps.

Simple answer is, it's ENTIRELY ABOUT THE SITE TOPIC. That's it. Case close. I have a car site that averages 200 uniques a day, but makes me around $20 a day. I have a TV site that gets around 5000 uniques a day, but barely clears $20 on a good day. Tv, entertainment, games, and celebrity sites are just lousy niches.

Bro,It depends on the country of the Clicker,Certain countries have high revenue for the Adwords advertisers and hence the country does matter per that particular ad.
