1. Your domain name can help you a great deal, often a good domain name will land you the #1 spot rapidly on a decent search term. 2. Link building for yahoo is easier, and yahoo is less discerning about link quality. 3. Less webmasters compete aggressively on yahoo. 4. Meta seems to have a greater effect on ranking which leads to quicker listing for specific key words.
Good tips! I admit I have not really thought about competing on Yahoo over Google... I might switch! I like you logic Great post!
Thats right - you can be number 1 on Yahoo but hardly anyone searches Yahoo compared to Google - thats why it is less aggresively targetted by SEO experts and webmasters alike. Stick to getting quality traffic that converts rather than getting hung up on where you place in Search Engines
My sites indexed pretty well in Yahoo but unfortunately its pretty much useless to me as a webmaster, since I get little to no traffic from them. Google remains the number 1 traffic source for my sites/blogs.
The social bookmarking does not really work, it will only keep you there for a few days. Also because you don't get traffic after getting #1 does not mean yahoo is worthless. It means you do bad keyword research
Getting on page one of Yahoo is good for the ego but not much in terms of traffic so I agree with what an seo guy told me the other day "my clients don't get very excited about getting to the top of Yahoo when it results in little, if any, increase in traffic". I see getting to the top of yahoo on some good keywords as an indication that I am headed in the right direction and not much more. It seems clear the job isn't really done until you get to the top of google.
I don't think so I think you're talking about a new website [Do you know yahoo give some favor to new website or blog] & after some days it will be gone forever
I don't know why people always insist on bashing Yahoo. Do these people not want 10 - 20% of their potential traffic? That is definitely not a waste of time. That could be a lot of traffic and sales if you rank well for high volume keywords. I guess I should just let people stay ignorant so that Yahoo stays relatively uncompetitive.
I agree with you not only yahoo, msn live and ask.com are also a good alternative to google. I've found a lot of my sites are ranking high there. I think this is the case due to the url names/titles matching their traffics keywords rather than the link popularity and PR of google search. ROOFIS
Yea, it easy to rank on Yahoo as opposed to Google. I can say that from experience. I'm currently on the second page of Yahoo for certain keywords relating to my niche after only a month of resgistering my domain. My niche is very competitive. I'm still on the 5th Page of Google for the same keywords.
yahoo loves content and give rank to well optimized site and yahoo count every single backlink whether its quality one or not
There are some good tips listed in this thread. But What i feel is that why people are saying that getting top ranking in yahoo is easy that may be becoz there is less competition there. But for me it had not worked.I had good ranking in Google, but not in YAhoo.
There all good points hey, and there results are not so biased on what the webmaster is doing, more so on real popularity.. , Although these days I tend to prefer google..
