I have 2 doubts about ad unit..plz..write me about it.. what does it mean?->first ad unit can earn more Can I place LINK AD as a first ad unit(on earning point of view)
It's a known fact that the first ad Google comes across in your html code is the one that gets the highest revenue per click. So just make sure that your prime location ad is the one that comes up first in your html code
Yes, first adsense block in html has the best paying ads (eCPM, not CPC) but link units don't count in this. So that you have to take care about the order of your adsense blocks in your html, only the 3 ads blocks allowed. Try to have the one with most CTR as the first one in html code.
Just adsense is coded to work like that..! It just Put the Highest Paying adverts at top which would help most The Advertisers and the people who advert it to others...!
With all those green bars, I hope you see this and reply again. I was under the impression that the highest paying ads were first as well. Someone set me straight here, and said no, the best performing ads show first. Not the highest paying. Performing meaning better click-thru rate. So now I'm a little perplexed. Can you expound upon your answer? Stephen C
Performing does't mean better click-thru rate. It is a combinaison of CPC and CTR, so ultimately it is eCPM. The best performing ad can be a low CPC with very high CTR or a low CTR with very high CPC. That's how they are ordered, by eCPM. At least that's what I would order them if I was adsense.
once somebody clicks thru to browse what the link unit offers, certainly the first/top ads will pay more than those listed at the bottom or on the next page, right?
Then you agree, the highest per click ad is not listed first, right? Or am I reading wrong? I think that's what everybody thinks. That is, the first ad listed will earn the most on a click basis. In other words, hypothetically, the first ad pays $1.00, second pays $.50, third, so on. But it's not as easy as that, right? There are a whole of other factors built in to decide which ad gets placed first? I don't really care, off hand, I decided a while back to go with all 3 ad blocks. And it's helped. And my mind had changed that an ad listed last, on the bottom block could indeed pay more than the first up op on top. Like I said, I'm going to stop worrying about it. To me it's all about overall performance and not getting one click worth $5, but more like getting clicks worth $100 total. Stephen C
That's right. The best performing ads would be not necessarily paying more per click, but their ad text (title, description) will attract more clicks, so the result for adsense is more money per 1000 ad impression (eCPM) I don't know if ad order is based on the overall performance of the ad on the whole adsense network (all publishers) or for each individual page, which should be better for earnings.
