Why estimates instead of actual earnings ?

    * Estimated as of Nov 17, 2005 at 3:00 AM PST

Each day like now at 6:36 AM I log into my YPN account, it says the 'top' line above. And it shows a dollar amount, strangely from now to Noon or after, this amount does NOT change for me, anyday......

This is driving me nuts

Why NOt just show a real amount of the current daily earnings per clicks etc, not an 'estimate' LOL

If it wasn't paying so well, I wouldn't deal with it. Other than that, I just realize that betas suck and live with it. I wish they would fix some of this soon.

Yahoo uses "Estimate" because they deduct for certain types of clicks (out of US, fraud, etc). According to Yahoo, most adjustments are made within a day - although I have never seen any adjustment. Even though Adsense doesn't say "estimate" it is basically the same thing. They will deduct clicks they deem invalid from what you actually are paid.

I think for the vast majority of YPN publishers (estimate is what you are going to be paid, or very close to it). If someone was doing something against the TOS, or not a US based co., then I guess they should worry.

As far as the "Estimate" number changing, Yahoo only updates with any frequency when you have a clicks. If your site gets a click, they seem to update every 15 minutes when their system is running smoothly. YPN has gone down several times where it has taken most of a day before the number updates. If the estimate isn't updating you either didn't get any clicks since the last update, or their system is down. It's beta, and has bugs, but it would be nice if they could post a notice when their updates are down. Most would be understanding that they have glitches, but having to wonder could be avoided by posting a simple generic notice.
