Hi, I am going to renew some domains which are expiring, and they are registered in Enom Inc. Enom is now charging me for $34.99 per year!! Why they charge so high, while Godaddy is charging less than $10 per year? Is there any way to lower this renewal fee?
No, not unless you transfer to a different registrar. That is a trick that a lot of domain registrars use to get new customers and then they charge you high renewal rates once you are their customer for years to come. At Economical Domains we only charge $8.88 for every year of registration, and no renewal price increases. If you want to transfer your domain names over for only $8.88 we will give you a free year of registration as well. If you have any questions please let me know.
I suppose that it will be much more reasonable to pay some extra dollars for reliability than to see your domains disappear.. Choose reliable and trustworthy Registrar having accreditations to assure you that everything will be ok without any headaches.
Why dont you transfer your domain from enom to godaddy and by transfer, your 1 year will be extended and you dont have to renew them
Networksolutions, Enom and Register.com charge 35$/Year. They are some of the oldest registrars, Netsol from 1993! Domains were first charged 50$/Year starting in 1995, Minimum 2 Years registration was required. Out of the 50$, 35$ went to Netsol and 15$ to US Government Fund! Thought the Domain prices fell by 2001 to 6$ with the market becoming Oligopoly. Netsol and Enom still continued to charge 35$ and still do!
Because it's a free market & they can charge whatever they like, it's called "business". If you don't like it & want to pay less, transfer it out of them to many of the other registrars that don't sting their customers with high renewals.
Because they live in their own small world, where people can afford the prices . By the way, don't go with GoDaddy, try Namecheap - just search the Web and you'll see why...
