Why egg gets solidified when it is boiled in water?

    May be because of some reaction kind of thing going in when heated which makes it a solid from liquid.

    This question seems very easy to cause almost everyday I eat boiled egg. But the actual answer was not known to me. Anyways a lot of thanks to nihangshah for helping us.

    Egg contains a lot of protein in yolk as well as in egg white (Albumin protein).. On heating, the protein get denatured due to which it changes it state from liquid to solid..

    I'm a Biology Graduate.. :D

    In theory, shouldn't something that you heat up give energy to the individual atoms in the solid, thereby enabling them to separate?
    Boiling an egg for 10-15 minutes makes a pretty rubbery egg, since the white is being overcooked. I think the heat causes the proteins to bond into longer chains or something!?

    So that they can taste better when we eat them. am no scientist but it is something to do with heat definitely, sounds so obvious mmhh

    This is because the egg protein will experience the process of coagulation and become hard.
