High traffic eventually leads to high PR. Thus, these two are not the same, but closely interrelated (with positive correlation). Ideally, we should take care of both aspects yet there is need to give much effort to traffic issues....
PR just doesn't matter anymore. I personally don't care if my site has PR3 or PR7. All I care about is how it's performing in the serps.
Sure DP is ginormous, but there is a huge difference in the quality of forum members and hence, ultimately, the lower PR. DP has a lot of members and many are serious online marketers and businesspeople, but there are also many amateurs (I belong to 30 forums and none has as many one sentence posts or such poor grammar), teenagers (as the recent survey elsewhere shows) and the like, who don't have established websites. Therefore inbound links will not have same weighting as forums recommended and visited by professionals. Sites like SearchEngineWatch get link juice from larger companies with high PR sites; not saying DP doesn't, but not as many.
PR will not help in any way shape or form here. Who cares? Its a rank given by google. Maybe if goog payed webmasters a higher percentage on adsense then maybe it would matter. But as for now no one visiting your site cares what your PR is. Well the only exception is SEO related sites...but then who cares...its about traffic....and pr wont bring you any more or less....
i agree there is no need for a higher pr they stand by their name, digital point is known as the best forum in the net composed of the best web master/designer/developer/seo and other professional that is related to internet and website
Exactly. DP had an article on the new york times last year - and that helped increase its traffic a lot. DP needs more blog links from webmasters, so if you have a blog; why don't you mention DP and link to it?
Having a higher PageRank will not change anything. DP is one of the most-trafficked forums in this niche and it will only continue to grow, despite having a lower PageRank than some other forums. I would not stop frequenting this forum even if its PageRank dropped to zero!
Maybe many people here secretly tries to hide DP from public because there's so much good information here =p If not it might have higher PR.
I don't think pagerank matters a lot these days. If your site is popular it's just popular. Don't let a simple term like pagerank fool you all. I may be wrong.
I think the URL's here should stay under the radar. PR means very little, and DP 'only having a 6' is a bonus when you look at some of the threads on here.
DP was PR7 when I joined a few years ago. and it was relatively unknown then. I think some old pages like the donation page still have a PR7 ranking. The only reason I can think that it hasn't gone to a PR8 is the weight of outgoing links as opposed to incoming links.
The purpose of PR is to rank your pages in the search engine index for the purpose of getting traffic. But since DigitalPoint already has this much traffic, PR doesn't really matter. *DigitalPoint was PR7, wasn't it?
All the outbound links dont help at all, theres up to 100 per page. DP certainly has enough links for a higher PR including roughly 19 DMOZ listings. I got PR6 sites with alot less.
