Now after DP upgraded to vB4
Why Shawn did not choose "use SEO friendly urls" these are static urls for showthread and forumdisplay inspite od dynamic
also the official forum for vbulletin did that !!

it will be more useful for members for their links in signatures to be from a static page than a dynamic one

may be did not want redirect?
Google will reindex all pages with in few days I think may be a week or 2

Thats a good point, i actuly think he did a mistak by not redirect dynamic to "static" like you say.

It's realy a simple addon to VB and will actuly drive more traffic to digitalpoint from better SEO results.

It's scary to change 5 Million pages but it's only for the better

One reason behind it is because the URLs we use don't change (ever). The "SEO friendly" URLs can change, and when they do, they don't redirect the user.

    For example...

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?100-Google-API-On-Non-API-Servers

let's say you change the thread title so the generated URL is now:

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?100-Google-API

See how one doesn't redirect to the other? So every time you change a thread title, you just orphaned all the old links to it.

That was one (of many) reasons...

so called SEO-friendly urls are no more seo friendly as normal urls.
as long as you have no session-ids or other changing parameters in your urls, its all good.

vB4 shows duplicate content in Google. (quote from vBGermany.com team member.)
