Why don't my lottery site rank?

    Hi guys,

I'm pretty new to SEO and i'm just trying to work on a few projects to see if I can get any better. Right now I'm working on www.wintheuklottery.com and would love to know why it doesn't rank for anything. I've optimised the main page for National Lottery which only has competition of about 800k and would like to optimise a subpage for lottery results uk as the competition is only about 200k. Problem is, I've submitted to directories, had blog posts done, got strong links of every sort and it still doesn't rank. I think I know what the problem is but won't state my views so that everyone doesnt say yeh probably.

    All thought appreciated!

I think you have too many keywords in your meta data - I've been told that you shouldn't have more than three...

You also don't use heading tags (h1,h2,h3) which the bots don't like...

Apart from that your site appears to be one page of sales talk - I'm not sure about Google rankings but it doesn't look very nice to the human eye - sorry, just my personal opinion :)

How long has it been up? What software did you use to write the page?

I've actually just rewritten to include more metadata as it wasn't ranking with 2 or 3 mentions. Its been up over a year, wrote it myself. Heading tags? are they important?

I think it's good coding practice to have headings and subheadings and Google supports good coding practices...

Also you don't have a DOCTYPE declaration (not sure if this is required) here's an example from this thread:

Don't keyword stuff on your metas...

And you can promote your site using your targeted anchor text and submit to directories, etc...
