Why don't I see any ads for popular keywords?

I live in Taiwan, and when I search for very popular keywords like "football" no ads are displayed, presumably because English language advertisers don't want to waste their time targetting Chinese speakers.

Anyway, is there a way I can see the ads that would be displayed for, say a person based in the US doing the same search?

yes, go to google and type in your search but put &gl=us at the end of it. this will display the america ads, &gl=uk for the UK, &gl=ca for Canada and so forth

You could also try to use country-based proxy. The ads that you'll see will differ from other country.

I asked a similar question and this link was provided by a forum user. Its helpful cause you don't have to play around with the URL. Country selection is replaced by a drop-down.
