Hi, I own SEO Blog which is 2 months old. and it comes among top 10 results in google for learn seo,seo blogger, learn seo tricks, seo tricks but still i get only 50-80 uniques per day.It has good ranking in other search engines also for the same keywords. and i believe these keywords are good enough to generate traffic. is it because SEO is not well aware? Please suggest me what may be the reason. Thanks
Maybe there's not many people looking for those terms. Or perhaps the searchers aren't interested in your blog. You can get top 10 terms in Google all day long, but if the search count is low and/or your site isn't matching what the people are really looking for, your traffic isn't going anywhere significant.
ash-- I took a quick look at your site, please remember I'm trying to be helpful (and honest) here... The audience you are trying to target consists of people who are likely to subscribe to your RSS feed. Do you keep up with the number of subscribers? My guess is you aren't converting many visitors into feed subscribers. I think that will tell you a lot. Here are two possible reasons people aren't subscribing, and therefore not giving you return traffic: 1) The "Subscribe" options don't jump out to visitors. 2) The language on your site is broken English, which makes it harder to read. Even if you have great content ideas, they aren't being conveyed well. The first problem is easy to fix. The second will be tough unless you can find someone to write for you for free. Hope that helps!
If want to gain more traffic why don't you try an alternative get tons of traffic. If you think you have a nice and interesting content to attract visitors try joining bookmarking sites. It can boost your traffic.
I agree that you should find other sources of traffic. I did a quick check with wordtracker and for the keywords you mentioned there are hardly any searches: learn seo 15 seo blogger 0 learn seo tricks 0 seo tricks 7 For "learn seo" your website is on the 2nd page at google for me. Considering that 50-80 uniques per day sounds about right. In SEO you need to make a name for yourself, post articles, visit SEO forums, join bookmarking sites like Hersheys said. If you have good content and visitors become regulars your traffic will slowly build. You must be patient as well. 2 months isn't a long time to build steady traffic.
Agreed. Besides your site will be limited on visits no matter what. Your subject matter is narrowed down to webmasters. The general population have no clue to SEO work and info unless they are a webmaster. And for it being where it is in Google and the hits for being 2 months old is deceint. Give it time and do what the others have suggested. And is the blog feed under your DP username, is that your site as well? If not you can run the feed there to help spark interest and traffic.
I have the same problem and I think because I have very little contents. Sorry OOT... I still questioning that robots.txt and sitemap will lead traffic to a web site... some say this won't affect some say will... does anyone here have the answer?
YES I agree with you. I think it is more than just listing in the top positions to gain good traffics.
also consider the competition, with all those sites, blogs, forums, etc also tackling SEO... try also to offer newsletter.
Thanks for your suggestions guys... I will try to improve the blog per your suggestions. any other comments...
i think you should try and put some free tools available for download - seo related programs maybe - also try submitting your articles to digg.com netscape.com slashdot.org and all the big bookmarking sites and you will get huge traffic in no time!
having a robots.txt file and, more importantly, a sitemap helps with search engine listings, but is only a very small part of SEO. Sure, it's good to have a sitemap, but just having one alone won't necessarily drive up traffic.
I agree with Kwan entirely. I am not an expert myself, but keywords such as search engine optimization (very competitive), internet marketing, search engine marketing etc have high search volumes. You may try optimizing your blog for one/some of these. Website promotion is another good keyword with a little less traffic but effective. Good luck
