Hello. I was wondering if any body would help me out and tell me why my sites gets hardly any traffic. The site itself is 2 years old and the domain is 10 years old. I have plenty of unique content and have tried to target easier and harder keywords. I have done a lot of reading on seo over the years and i thought i was doing things they way i have read. the site has a pr4 but from what i have read this has nothing to do with serp's. If anybody could help me out i would really appreciate it. Thanks. indyonline.com is the site in question.
i visit your site indyonline.com you need to make it user friendly and also work on web marketing in forums, bookmarking to get traffic.
On first impression the site was slow to load and it looks a little ugly, no offence but I think there is maybe a bit too much going on on the main page? I'd ditch the grey as a background colour and get rid of the scrollbar on the page. Seems like your unique content should have pride of place rather than loads of feeds which take people away again and maybe some pictures of Indianapolis would be a good idea? I really like the header banner. Other than that try submitting to social bookmarking sites if you do an interesting article, digg, stumble, reddit are all good for traffic. You could also submit some articles to an article directory like Ezine articles. Also as the previous poster said try putting your website in your sig on forums and blog comments.
It also happen to my site. I have a blog which I optimized. I build links, post unique contents. It got good PR, indexed by google, but it has no traffic. Strange.
Well your site does seem like a useful resource, but it might just be that not many people are searching for that particular region. I'm on the top page for a particular town (diff. state) and don't get much conversions either (however the site is still rather new so I guess it's too soon still). Also, your text in the history page seems to be overlapping somewhere near the bottom, at least in my browser. One more thing, your layout seems inconsistent. Your header is centered in some pages but not the rest. However, that's more of a presentation issue.
Thank you all for your input. I am working on the look of the site but i'm wondering about getting natural traffic. I have tried targeting keywords that get a lot of searches and include them in the text on the page.
